What headphones do you find work best with a DVD player on the plane? Last flight we took DD's headphones were just not loud enough for her to hear her movie.

Have to agree, the noise cancelling ones are best. DH, DD and I just use our regular ones but DS purchased a good pair of noise cancelling ones and at times uses them on flights without listening to music, he just cancels out the noise. I think they are restricted from being turned on during take off and landing like other electronics.

I actually got a pair for $20 at Tuesday Morning a few years ago. The original intention wasn't for flying, but for when I was doing work on campus. They were a life saver when trying to get library work done. Just popped them in with some low instrumental music and outside noise was more or less gone.

I'm an ear bud wearer, but no question asked when I'm flying the noise canceling are my savior.

Funny, I never knew what noise cancelling ear phones were. So you can use them to listen to music and DVD's and somehow they cancel out the airplane noise? Just what I'm looking for! I looked on amazon and they seem to range from $40-$200. Since they are for a child do the cheaper ones work ok or do you really need a good pair for them to be effective?

We have two pairs that we purchased for around $30- $40 each. They work great. It is so much easier to listen to a movie with them. Before these, I used a pair of earbuds. They didn't work for me. Not only was it difficult to hear, but they ended up hurting my ears like an ear ache which lasted for 2 days at WDW. Not so nice.

I have a pair of Bose headphones, which work great, but they are expensive. Lots of the lower priced ones are fine, especially for kids. You just have to make sure that they can be adjusted small enough for children. I used to have a pair of Sennheiser noise canceling headphones which are a lot cheaper than Bose and they worked well.

Remember noise canceling does not equal noise blocking. You can still hear outside sounds.

My DD11 has a pair of JVC stereo headphones (padded) that worked great for her to listen on her iPad when we flew to Disneyland in Oct. They aren't labeled as noise-cancelling but the sound was great! Hardly heard any engine/plane noise.

I got them from WalMart.

If you are planning to opt for headphones for flight purpose or for a boisterous journey then the best option you have is to opt for noise cancellation headphones. These headphones are available at great deals and you can easily compare and purchase them online.

Yes, they cancel out a lot of the plane noise. They work best on sounds that are constant and of a consistent frequency which is airplane noise. I have pair from Sony that I paid about $30 for several years ago. The work great. They do require a single AAA battery so take an extra. The batteries last a very long time in the head phones.

We bought kid-size headphones at Target. They might be Sony. They are blue and white. They are not noise cancelling. They are padded. DD has never complained (3 or 4 flights and a few car trips). Probably did not spend more than $20. And I can wear them too, if needed.

Though we never sit farther back than halfway on a plane. Don't know if the same would be true if we were in the back.

I have a pair of Skullcandy Ink'd Earbuds which I bought for $10 at Staples (or some similar office supply store). They come with three sets of silicone thingys that help you customize the fit to your ear.

Just sticking these things in my ear cancels out so much noise that I wear them through landing (unplugged from a device). You don't have to spend $$$ to get the benefit of less noise.

I'm a huge fan of kids using child designed headphones. Dd's headphones have a volume limiter on them so she can't crank up the volume on her MP3 player and fry her ears before she's a teenager! :thumbsup2

We will be picking up a similar pair for ds!
