Heading to Niagara tomorrow morning...woo-hooo!!!!!

My MIL and her boyfriend are driving out today to stay with Daniel for the weekend. My first night away since he was born 16 months ago today!!!! Woo-hoooo!!!!

We're staying at the Marriott fallsview, with a view of the falls, a king size jacuzzi room. Ahh the romance!

Can't wait!

We stayed there in May 2000 for our 10th anniversary! You will love it. Of course me and DH rearranged the furniture in the sitting room so the couch faced the falls. Maybe they got the idea and changed all the rooms. They had the couch facing the fireplace which didn't make much sense.

Anyway, we had gotten a great deal on a room package and had a nice dinner in the restaurant and each morning we had the buffet breakfast. We also went to the rotating restaurant up in the sky tower(sorry the name escapes me at the moment) which was nice also. We also injoyed using the Incline Railway that was just behind the hotel to get down the hill. It was like $1 each person each way. We didn't drive so it helped alot. We also used the bus system that goes up and down the main stretch, worked out great.

Well enjoy your stay at the hotel it will leave you breathless. My screen backround on my computer is the view out of our window when the falls were all lit up with colors at night. We talk about going back some time and DH refuses to try a different hotel.

DW and I go to the Falls for a long weekend every summer. We stay at the Comfort Inn on Clifton Hill - smack dab in the middle of Tacky Town: Ripley's BION, haunted houses, Elvira's Wild Ride etc. We love to be able to walk down to the falls, Maid of the Mist, Casino Niagara, etc.

any restaurant recommendations? I wouldn't mind eating at the hotel, personally...is it any good? any others outside the hotel to recommend?

There are a few chain type restaurants, along with Planet Hollywood, Hardrock Cafe, and a Rainforest Cafe. When we went for New Year's eve we ate at the Outback Steakhouse. We have also eaten at the 3 named above. There are plenty of local restaurants too. You shouldn't have a problem. We usually go for the day every summer and do all of the tourist stuff.

Me and DH both had filets that were wonderful at both the Marriott and Skylon Towers. At the Marriott we had surf/turf with lobster tails. We only tried the regular sit down at Skylon, not the buffet. What a view from up there. I was scared to go in the elevator, but once it started it was not as bad as I was expecting it to be.

We did go to both Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Cafe too. But if you want a nice romantic dinner I would try the hotel and Skylon Towers. Worth every penny!

FYI-on money exchange. We found that some of shops have better exchange rates so check around a bit before you exchange your money. I cannot remember the name, but DH found one that he would go to just to get the extra $$$. I do remember though that it was a gift shop on the main drag that had a cafeteria style restuarant attached to it. It was across the street from Journey Behind the Falls. It is best to check around and we just cashed in as we went the first day until DH struck gold!

I love Niagara Falls, it's such a beautiful area. I attended a DIS meet there a couple of years ago

Living in Buffalo, we are a mear 20 minutes from the Falls & love it when family from out of town come & want to see it....one year, my son wanted to go into some of the wax museums & Ripley's Believe it or Not up on Clifton Hill.....what a riot we had!!! Our Buffalo Entertainment book has tons of coupons for that neck of the woods, just so you know.....have fun!!

I live about 45 minutes away from the falls and it's to be a gorgeous warm weekend so have a wonderful time!!!

We are going to stay at the Marroitt Fallsview hotel. American falls view room for 2 nights in early August. We booked the package with buffet meals in the dining room and with some admisssion to some stuff.. ie: Maid of mist, Journey behind the falls, and a few others all for 359.00 for two nights. not too shabby. Looking forward to it.
