Heading to Knotts for a family reunion this weekend (July 12) - what should I know?

I've never been to Knott's, since every time I'm in the LA area I pick DLR instead, but DS and I were outvoted for the family reunion and we're going to be visiting Knotts on Saturday for the first time. I'm anticipating crowds and heat...any other tips or things to keep in mind? DS(6 yrs) loves roller coasters and thrill rides, but he's barely 44 inches tall, so I've already warned him that he won't be able to go on as many rides as his cousins. He's the youngest - the others are mostly pre-teens and teens - so I expect that we'll be doing our own thing while the big kids take on the big rides.

DH hates crowds, so he was going to be grumpy no matter what was chosen, but DS and I were really trying to sell the extended family on Disneyland instead. No luck. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk DH into sticking around for an extra day or two at DLR either. We'll do our day at KBF, and then head home so he can get back for work.

Thank you! That is good to know...we will definitely look into that. I'll tell the rest of the family, too. I suspect those teenagers will be going through sodas like crazy!
