Heading to Greece on the July 21st tour!! Anyone else on here going???
Super excited :)

Hi there! I just got back from this ABD on Sunday. I'm still trying to readjust myself to being back home, but I hope to write up a trip report soon. If you have any specific questions, I would be more than willing to answer! We had a complete blast, and our whole family fell in love with Greece! It was an amazing vacation, and I am sure you are going to love it!

Yay! I can't wait
Did you have a problem using your credit card places?
Also, did you do anything on your own time in Athens that you would recommend??
Thanks

The Museum of the Acropolis. Fabulous museum. Have at least a snack in the cafeteria, it has the most magnificent, floor-to-ceiling view of the Acropolis!!
The Ancient Agora. Fascinating ruins of the ancient Greeks' social "mall". Rick Steves has a wonderful walking tour of the Agora on his app.
The National Archeological Museum. Really interesting! The first floor contained an exhibit that was basically the History of Sculpture in Greece from ancient to modern times.

I am now considering this trip for the future. Hope you have a wonderful time. I'd love to read some trip reports! :-)

We did not have an issue using our credit card in some of the bigger restaurants and at the hotels. We carried euros and tended to use those for souvenirs, snack stands, and smaller restaurants. We brought too many euros, but ended up tipping one of our guides in euros since she lives in Greece anyway.

In Athens, we actually did two tours during our free time. We used Trip Advisor to find a private tour company called Private Greece Tours, and they did a great job for us! We did a half day excursion to the Temple of Poseidon, and we thought it was amazing! Gorgeous setting and scenery. We had flown in one day prior to the start of the ABD, so we did this tour during the day before our welcome dinner. We felt it was very worthwhile.

Next, we did a tour called "Athens by Night" where we got to watch the sunset high above the city, and got to visit some of the sites after dark to see them all lit up. It also included time for a dinner stop of our choosing (you pay for dinner separately). We ended up dining waterfront at a spot near the port of Piraeus that was recommended by our driver. It was a very nice evening!

I totally second the Temple of Poseidon!! Absolutely gorgeous! The person who arranged it actually talked our driver into making it a sunset tour, and we watched sunset from the Temple of Poseidon. Amazing!

Although your "Athens by Night" tour sounds fabulous!
