Heading back to Princess Josie's Castle-An AKV May 22-29 PTR-TR Started 6/3!

Good morning Leanne
sounds like you guys have a fun weekend lined up! shopping for dresses with your mom sounds like alot of fun. We had dinner for my mom's bday last night. Happy bday to your Dad!

beautiful spring weather sounds abundant! we are planning our Easter Egg hunt today. I think we are going to BBQ on Sunday (my parents normally come here for lunch, but I was informed they are going to the casino Sat night and will be here for dinner this year) I still need to pick up something for Ashton for his basket...

:mickeyjum Disney will be here before you know it! :mickeyjum
hang in there! the time should start to fly now...

Have a great day!
:wave2:
It was beautiful today. I actually pulled out some shorts and put them on. Happily, this was the first time I noticed some weight loss. My shorts were loose in the waste and legs. A BBQ sounds like a lot of fun. I'm doing basket shopping tomorrow. Lindsey has school but I'm off work. Perfect time to get this task done...

Happy Birthday to your Mom Connie!!!

Hey guys, if you wouldn't mind please say a prayer for a little girl named Mya and her mother Shardai. Mya is a three year old dying from cancer. I have been following her story for the last few weeks. Her story is amazing and really testifies to the power of the DIS. Mya's condition is very grave at the moment and she is very uncomfortable due to the extreme pain. If you would please consider praying for this family. I'm of the thinking, the more prayers the better. They could really use some comfort and peace in the next few days.

If you're interested in her story the TR in progress is here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2418557

If you're like me, make sure you have some tissues nearby. Links to her Caring Bridge journal are in her mother's siggie. :sad2:

I just felt compelled to ask for prayers for this family. As a Mother myself, my heart is breaking for Shardai.

How sad! As a parent, I can't imagine what that would be like. Thanks for posting the link. I'll be sure to check it out.

I copied and pasted your post about Mya on my PTR. Glad the shopping was fun. Have fun basket shopping tomorrow. Any new dining decisions?

Guys, I don't know what's wrong with me....I have Disneyitis bad today! I don't feel like doing anything but hanging out on the DIS and dreaming about our upcoming trip! :confused3

Don't think the bossman would like that very much. :lmao:

At least I have a meeting in a few minutes to take up an hour....;)

This is why we are all DISers! :thumbsup2 You are definitely not alone. :grouphug:

Please do. They can use all the thoughts and prayers they can get.

Feel free to copy and post as many places as you like. :goodvibes I hope maybe someone will read and send a prayer up for Mya and Shardai. I will have fun shopping for basket goodies...I can have fun shopping for canned vegetables though. :lmao:

thanks for sharing! I wanted to ask for the link the other day when I seen you and Mary mention it...I had started following a few back in Nov and than stopped around Christmas (don't know why)...but, I will definately keep her family in my thoughts and prayers. As a mom I cannot imagine!

Great finds... too bad the store is closing but  for sales! There is a Disney outlet about 15 minutes from me so now that the weather is getting nicer I predict a few trips there before our trip:) I was just there the other day and got the kids some Easter stuff (which you saw;)) if I hadn't been on a budget this week I probably could have knocked out a lot of shopping - we are taking the kids to Hershey Park tomorrow for Springtime in the Park:cool1:... I'm trying to be very good this time and just use my tip money for clothes shopping.

So we went to the Disney Store at Opry Mills yesterday. Our friends travelling with us in May came along too. We had a great time! The store is closing on 1/23/10 so once I heard that I knew I had to make a run down there. EVERYTHING in the store was an additional 40% off. I got quite a bit of stuff for very little. Here's what we bought...

The girls each got one of these...

Got these but didn't get a pick before they were being played with. The store wasn't sold out on the P&F playset but apparently they are online.

Got a few drink cups but they were washed and being used before I got a pic. The website doesn't show them for some reason. We had fun shopping for sure. I'm very sad that I won't be able to go down there in the future. It was a great Disney store. There were always lots of bargains. I have homework to get finished today. I hope to be back tonight but it may not happen. Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

I couldn't agree more... Last year because it rained so much we ended up visiting with my godparents whom I haven't seen in 10 years and I reconnected with my cousin who is my age and has a boy and girl the same ages as my two.

My first year going to Disney with the kids on my own (as an adult) I was told about this website but still didn't plan on too much. I was set in what I wanted to do and didn't think I needed to do character meals or any of that.. had never done it in the past. But last year we did the dinner at Park Fare after my daughter did the BBB (she dressed as Cinderella) when Cinderella and the Prince came out to dance we right sitting right there in the center and the Prince came over to Adriana and pulled her out to dance:cloud9: It was definitly a magical moment!

I have been thinking a lot this morning about all of our trips and how our plans always change once we get to the world for various reasons. I devour all things Disney but the websites, podcasts, and books can only give you so much. The people that offer this information do not know you or your family and can only predict things. Sometimes even Disney doesn't know what will be happening on any given day. With respect to WDW and vacation plans, personal experience is invaluable.

The following is a list of items that have adjusted our plan each year we have visited:

1) in 2009 I didn't expect record level rain because accuweather nor weather.com expected it. The rain prompted a lot of indoor character meets, rudeness in guests, and the ability/desire to visit indoor attractions we would normally dismiss. I also didn't expect to meet so many great DIS friends....definitely a highlight.

2) In 2008 I didn't expect an impromptu character meet would cause me to miss an ADR because it was so magical (all ears, the DIS, nor Steve Soares told me I would be meeting these characters in this location)

3)In 2007 I never expected our bus to breakdown or the weather to be so beautiful that we were able to stay at the parks and not need rests. I also was advised that the castle package at BBB wasn't worth it. Despite the advice, I booked it anyway. Let me tell you, the look on Lindsey's face and her excitement when her FGM opened the door to the dressing room with her dress, wand, shoes, and tiara laid out before her was PRICELESS. Josie had the same reaction in 2009. I will continue to pay the $100 extra despite the opinions of those who hadn't, in most cases, even experienced the full package. :confused3 You can't put a price on the memories we've made with a complete princess makeover in the most magical place on earth. That's just MY opinion and still brings tears to my eyes as I type this. :goodvibes

4) In 2006 I didn't expect record level crowds and heat because touring plans nor weather.com expected it. Because of the heat the characters were all over the place and not where the Times Guide, the DIS, nor All Ears told me I could find them. For example, we met Snow White & Dopey, Belle & the Beast, and Aurora in the courtyard to the UK when the Times Guides said Germany and France. :confused3 It was great though because most people couldn't find them, there was NO line, and they spontaneously got together for a group photo with my girls. If it weren't on my external hard drive I'd post it...it's really special. :goodvibes

5)In 2003 I didn't expect the crowds to be so low that we did everything and actually got the chance to check out Sea World

6)In 1999 we didn't expect our extended family trip to be affected so much by waiting on others and illness

7)In 1987 I didn't expect to only ride 4 or 5 attractions per day due to crowds. We didn't even travel during peak season.

I could go on and on because I too scour websites, the boards, religiously listen to podcasts etc. I use this information to put together a game plan but I have learned (the hard way) that ALL plans will be revised when you get to the park. THAT is the real magic of Disney. Something unexpected can happen almost any time, almost any where. No two people will have the same exact experience. That's why we keep going back. :goodvibes

Hi Leanne!!

I haven't read about sweet little Mya yet, but I will tonight when we get home! We will say a prayer every night for her, I too agree, the power of prayer works, I think we've all seen it!

I wanted to take a moment before we run out for lunch to wish you and your wonderful family a very Happy Easter.\

Chat later:hug:

We had a pretty good time tonight looking at dresses. I talked her into trying on an ivory dress and it looked beautiful on her. So much better than the white (she's a little heavy and that bright white was making it worse). The next weekend that Joe works we are going to head to Nashville to look around there. There's a much larger selection there. :goodvibes On a side note, we were at David's Bridal today and they actually size things small-that means you have to go up 4 sizes from your normal size for dress that fits. What bride or woman for that matter wants to buy a dress that's sized 4 sizes bigger than her normal. Wrong direction guys!! :lmao:

I know ya'll had a blast shopping for a dress for her. I think it is sweet, the daughter helping the mom find a wedding dress :goodvibes. A shopping trip to Nashville sounds like fun. A girl's weekend shopping trip can only be beat by a Disney trip. Which is, by the way, 50 DAYS away :scared1::woohoo:. I can't believe David's Bridal dress sizes :scared1:. Why in the world would they do that . Take a woman who normally wears a 12 and tell her she has to get a size 20 and you will cause some serious anorexia :scared1:.

Mya's story is truly heart breaking. I added the link to my page too and sent the link in an email to several of my friends. Lots of prayers will be going up for this precious little girl and her family.

Yay! I LOVE the idea of Disney Nights! We wanted to do something like that for our last trip, but never got a chance to. This trip, WE ARE DOING IT! We love Ohana, so what a great idea to replicate it! Love the pictures too, the girls are precious :goodvibes

It's a heartbreaking story but there is a bright side. Mya has brought a lot of people together. I'm amazed at how quickly DISers came together to send her to Disney for her last wish. People donated DVC points, money, clothing, etc. Just amazing! Disney treated her well too. I'm so happy she got to go; if it were any later it may not have happened. It's so sad that they can't do something for her. Mary told me about the DIS Big Give and I did a little reading and signed right up-that's where I learned about Mya. I'm so blessed to have two healthy kids.

I wish both of our stores didn't close. I'm already itching to go to a Disney Store to get some last minute goodies before our trip. Guess I'll just have to order online. Good for you for staying on budget. I'm trying too as well. Trying to maximize the money I have for souvies this year. :goodvibes

See there is always something good that comes out of the unexpected at Disney! I'm glad the rain allowed you to reconnect with family. Those are truly special times for sure. Awww how special that DD got to dance with her prince. Sooo sweet!

Hi Queen!!! Hope you have a wonderful Easter as well!

This little girl is really an angel sent from God. She has the hearts of many on the DIS. She can definitely use your prayers right now. She is very uncomfortable and nearing the end. :sad2:

We did have fun dress shopping! Don't tell her I told ya but my Mom normally wears a 16-I buy her this size all the time and no issues whatsoever with fit....we had to get a size 24 for it to fit. Just crazy...it made her a little sad too which kind of ticked me off. This was supposed to be fun start to finish! Thank you for praying for Mya and for sharing her story. I'm certain she and her mother appreciate it.

Thanks about the girls Katie! :goodvibes You have to do some Disney Nights Katie! Your family will love it. My girls get so excited about them. Daddy is getting into it too!
