Headed to Myrtle Beach...need new restuarant idea??

We are again headed to Myrtle Beach this July, this will be our 15th trip in a row. I would love to hear some of your favorite restarurants that you go to!!!

So many to choose from... We have a 12 year old son and a 6 year old daughter, so many of our choices are based on their likes/ dislikes:

- Our favorite place is Duffy Street Seafood Shack on Main Street in North Myrtle. Happy Hour includes $6.99 pound of crablegs. Fun atmosphere for adults, but our kids really enjoy it there, too. They like throwing peanuts on the floor.
- Outrigger in North Myrtle for seafood
- Dino's for Pizza (around 8th avenue south on Ocean drive, across from the Sea Mist hotel)
- Ocean Garden buffet north of Restaurant Row (Chinese buffet with crablegs. Really good)
- River City Cafe for burgers and GREAT fish sandwiches. Our favorite is located near the pier in Surfside Beach, but the one at Sand's Ocean Dunes on 76th avenue North has a great outside bar/ eating area.
- Thorny's for steaks
- Sir Johns for steaks/ seafood buffet
- Peaches Corner for footlong hotdogs and a beer
- Oscars SportsBar north of Restaurant Row for their sandwiches
- Dick's Last Resort for just a fun time (best to take kids during lunch time)
- Friendly's, near the Family Kingdom Amusement Park, for dinner, and especially for Ice Cream Sundaes!
- Captain Nance's in Calabash, NC (worth the drive, especially to shop at Calahans after Dinner)
- Medieval Times for good food and a really good show.

Those are a few of our favorites. We really like to try new places, but we also make sure that everywhere we go that they have something our kids will eat. If you have any suggestions, I'd like to hear yours.

K&W for cheap, quick, cafeteria-style meals,

Another cheapie, Great American buffet in the 70's North sec, surprisingly good family steak buffet

Friendly's for ice cream (orange creamsicle drink is delicious),

River City, the one in the 70's North section or the Surf side...don't like the one near downtown,

J Edwards, south - almost out of town, really a surprise, white tablecloth - lots of locals (they give you hot towels @ end of meal - charming).

A texas roadhouse place (name escapes me) near 20th south, a block or 2 north of J Edwards, real cow hide on the seats - yee-haw.

Crab house @ Broadway has good food too.

We also enjoyed Margaritaville. DS4 didn't like the "tornado", though - the lightening, etc scared him. We're going to try Cheeseburger in Paradise next time.

We go every year for 2 weeks. DMIL owns a condo just across the street from the new Walmart and Home D up 17 in N. Myrtle Beach. Molly Darcy's on the Beach opened last summer. It's on Ocean Blvd. It is fantastic. You can sit outside and the kids can play on the beach while you eat. There are pool tables and video games also. Great Irish rest./pub. It's good if you want to go somewhere other than the norm at Barefoot or Broadway. However, we do love T-Bonz and House of Blues too. Oh, and I cannot forget Fudruckers, yum!

The food has to be the best part of vacations and especially in Myrtle Beach. I have to say that River City Cafe is the my all time favorite, I love the environment. Some of our other favorites are:
Fudruckers (great burgers)
Friendlys (great ice cream, Milkshakes are GREAT!!)
Dicks' Last Resort at Barefoot Landing (Awesome environment for teens!)
and you can't foget about the seafood!!
There is an awesome buffet in Surfside with live mermaids, my DD LOVED it!

We always stay at Land's End also by the new Walmart.....we like The Carolina Roadhouse, Tony's, Chuck's Steakhouse, The Crab House. I want to try this MArgaritaville place!!!!

We like Carraba's, T'Bonz, & Liberty. For cheap eats, we like Hamburger Joe's, 2 adults & 2 kids can eat for less than $20 and we ALWAYS see people from our home town in there. We also like Giorgio's Pizza in Ocean Drive for another cheap eat. We usually go to K&W at least once so we can all eat some veggies.

I would definitely reccommend the Outrigger for seafood and T'Bonz for steak. Stay away from the all you can eat seafood buffets, they are a rip off. In N. Myrtle Beach there is a great hot dog place called Sams... YUM. For the best seafood, take the short drive up to Calabash NC and eat at the Seafood Hut for lunch. Have a great trip. I live Myrtle Beach, have been there many times.

We enjoy eating at some of the restaurants owned by www.divinedininggroup.com. A lot are located near Surfside and Murrells Inlet.

Latitude 22- my favorite, open air, beach front restaurant. Looks fancy but is very casual. Not expensive

Margaritaville is awesome, however, the wait is impossible. Last summer we tried 3 different times to get in for dinner and it was 2hrs.+ wait time. We ended up doing lunch one day.

T'Bonz has great food and the Boars Head (also at Barefoot Landing) has really good pork. There's also a place called Kings on the same road and direction as Barefoot, just a little bit further down on your right hand side. They have really good pizza. Have fun!

Margaritaville is awesome, however, the wait is impossible.

The Margaritaville in Myrtle Beach is much better than the one in Las Vegas. However, I think it is way over-priced for what you get ($15 sandwiches?). Cheeseburger in Paradise (around 75th ave north on Business 17) is a little cheaper, a lot less crowded, and has many of the same meals (also owned by Jimmy Buffet enterprises).

If you do go to M'ville, make sure you save room for dessert.

I forgot to add to eat at Kings Pizza, they have the best antipasto. Also if you wanted to do a dinner show, try the Dixie Stampede, my dd8 loves it and we go almost every year.

Has anyone eaten at the Library downtown? My sister and her husband ate there several years ago and said it was fantastic (and very expensive). However, they now have a daughter, and did say that they wouldn't take her there (waste of money, she wouldn't enjoy it, etc.).

Did you know that the Pavillion is closing after this year? With that in mind, I would suggest hot dogs there on the strip. I can't believe it is really closing. What a shame. I have been there at least once a year for 38 years!!
