is that the home of the coat factory

LOL, Pop Daddy!

Sorry Mermaid, I cant help you with Vermont. I live in the next town over from Burlington MA. Have fun at the convention. :D

Lots to do in Burlington! The University of Vermont and many other colleges are located in and around Burlington. Downtown is Church Street which is an area that has been closed off to traffic to create an outdoor pedestrian mall. The New England Culinary Institute has a great restaurant here. Ben & Jerry's was born in Burlington and they have a shop (the original is gone) near the NECI restaurant. There is also an indoor mall with Filene's in this area. A "regular" mall can be found just down Route 2 in South Burlington. Burlington is right on Lake Champlain. There is a town owned area they call the Boathouse that is a nice recreation area and gives you a beautiful view of the lake. A new restaurant has opened here as well that serves on the open air deck. (Haven't been I've heard good things).

The Spirit of Ethan Allen is a boat that gives tours out on the lake. The Shelburne Museum and Shelburne Farms are nearby and are great to explore. www.shelburnefarms.org and www.shelburnemuseum.org

You can also visit the VT Teddy Bear Factory.

Where will you be staying? I could try to give you a general idea what you'll be near.

I think you'll have a great time!

(And no, the Burlington Coat Factorydoesn't have any connection to Burlington, VT) ;)

Here's a link with more info on the shopping. It also includes the Essex Outlets in nearby Essex. This is not a spectacular outlet center but might be of interest.

Shopping In Burlington

Gee Pam, you had me at "Ben and Jerry's" LOL

We are staying at the Sheraton! We will check in on Friday- staying in Gorham NH tomorrow night!

I used to live in Williston (just outside or Burlington) when I was in high school back in the 70's (Ben and Jerry opened their original restaurant during my senior year). Texas is great, but I still miss Vermont.

If you like outdoor activities, Smugglers Notch is must do, especially in the fall. Its about a half hour drive from Burlington and its absolutely beautiful.

The Sheraton is great. They have a real nice Sunday brunch and an indoor pool. You will be very close to the University Mall that I mentioned. It's just the other side of the main road where the Sheraton is located. There is also shopping in Williston (turn left on the main road) with places like Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, WalMart, etc.

When you come out of the Sheraton, turn right and head right down into Burlington. You will pass UVM. The Radisson, where I think the Shriner's are holding some events, is connected to the underground mall and that will lead you up onto Church Street. The Radisson is down near the lake. If you are facing the lake, turn right and you will come to the Boathouse area.

DH and I were stationed at Plattsburgh NY many years ago, it's right across the lake from Burlington. Burlington is a beautiful little town. More importantly though, thank your DH and his friends for us. Our daughter has been a Shriner's Kid since she was 5. She's 17 now and will only be their kid for another 10 months and we really will miss them. I don't believe that they get enough credit for all they do for so many children. So thanks from the bottom of our hearts:Pinkbounc

HI,

The Shelburne Museum is one of the most interesting museums I've ever seen. Loved it.

Smuggler Notch, Ben and Jerrys not to be missed.

Have a great tirp.

herc.
