HEA fireworks dessert party on Christmas Eve

I was able to snag ADRs for the HEA fireworks dessert party on Christmas Eve (plaza garden viewing).

However, we weren't originally planning on going to MK on Christmas Eve because I heard the crowds will be insane. I was planning on visiting Epcot or AK instead. Questions...

1. Can we still go to Epcot or AK and then hop to MK later on Christmas Eve for the dessert party? (There are 8 of us.)

2. Or will it be so crowded on Christmas Eve that MK will be under crowd/capacity control?

3. If MK is closed for capacity control, will we be let in for the HEA dessert party? We are staying off-site, so we will not have the Disney hotel guest priority.

4. If the answer to #3 is no, what time should we plan on being at MK to make sure that we are in before any capacity controls hit?

I believe the past 3 years there hasn't been any closures during Christmas week.

Looks like there were 4 MK closures during Christmas week in 2014, at least 2 in 2015, and 1 in 2016.

Interesting, I must have been thinking about onsite guests closures. We will be in MK on Christmas Eve, too. Hoping it will be pleasant!

We're trying the dessert party this trip... hoping it's worth the money!!!

Yes, it's expensive for a few desserts, but I think it will be really nice to be able to see the castle projections and fireworks without being crushed by the crowds.
