Plaza Gardens Viewing has the option to eat before OR after the fireworks. Which have you done or which does your family like more? We are big eaters and snackers so not concerned about not getting our money's worth or eating snacks beforehand to tide us over

We’ve only done the after. I would do that again as
The after has wine and beer offered with it now and the before does not. Also, it’s nice to sit and relax while the mass exodus happens instead of being in that crowd.

After is the way to go. No need to rush through desserts in order to find a nice spot in the Garden, then, while the mass of humanity makes its way to the exit, you get to sit back and stuff your face without any sort of time crunch stressing you out.

I've done the After for HEA and Before for MVMCP fireworks. Not counting the show differences, I still preferred After. WIth the Before, I felt a little rushed even though I had plenty of time for desserts. I also found the cheeseburger spring rolls underwhelming (dry and not much cheese)

The After I felt free to take my time for check-in, parked my butt in the garden, and enjoyed the desserts after fireworks. The spring rolls were also much better and had a cheesier flavor w/o overwhelming the burger aspect. I'd probably still choose After over Before just because I'd feel more relaxed seeing the show then eating desserts.

The only disadvantage IMO is the After might cut into any park time if you want to use the "get in line before close strategy".

I had the same debate but I booked the before party. That's mainly because the after is $10 more expensive per person ( maybe for the beer/wine difference) and we don't really drink. I was also planning to use the "after" time to get on some rides when the lines are shorter. I can see ourselves enjoying the food/time more during the after party but that would mean taking away the opportunity to go on a few more rides with the short lines., as unvoiced apollo mentioned above. So it's give and take....

After Party for us. We get to the garden area first althought that's becoming less of a huge advantage as more and more people seem to be choosing the after hour option. But, we don't rush through desserts to get to the viewing area and we get to sit and stuff ourselves while the park clears out. We did it last year even with evening emh's. That first hour is so crowded anyway that I was glad to sit back and let the crowds die down.

The check in time for the after party is always listed as an hour before the show. Are you really supposed to check in an hour early, or you can check in anytime after that?

I think you can check in up to any time before the show but the later you are, the more attendees of both parties are going to be in the garden before the show. You can always check in and then leave to do other things since they give you a wrist band for entry to the garden and corresponding party

For us:

After if the fireworks coincide with park closing. Eat, relax and let the crowds depart MK for 40 minutes or so.

Before if there are still operational hours following the fireworks. Since that timeframe has some of the lowest crowd levels, it is a shame to use it eating dessert at the after party.

Before for us and it's no contest. We 100% do this party for the prime viewing spot and don't actually care about the desserts so we never feel rushed trying to eat them, we just grab the couple of things we like and then go outside and chill. Then we can go do other things in the park when it's over and wait times are really low. I would hate feeling obligated to stay and eat after the show. This trip it makes even less sense to do the After too because we're staying CL and will have plenty of beer/wine and desserts in the lounge.

Having done the before one I would probably prefer the after party. Here was what happened at our dessert party. I expected to have a pleasurable time eating desserts as we did get to the dessert portion early enough. We were greeted and shown a table for our party. The CM had to tell us it was a full party and space in the garden was going to fill up - I think this put an unnecessary pressure on us to eat quick and head down to the garden. It really ruined the relaxing time I was anticipating. We booked the party so that we could relax, have desserts and enjoy the fireworks.

So with that said i would much prefer to just head to the garden, enjoy the fireworks and then head off to enjoy dessert at a relaxed pace. It probably benefits you because then you are not caught in the mass of people leaving.

We've done before a couple of times and this would be our choice again. We had more than enough time to eat. There are only so many desserts you can eat. No problem with finding a great spot in the garden to watch.

We have done both and prefer the after-party. However, the prices were just raised; $10 for the before, $20 for the after (which now includes alcohol). So, I would base it on whether you drink or not, and whether you feel the extra $10 is worth it if you do drink.
