Planning a May 2010 "Graduation Trip"....it would be me, DS18, and DS18 guy Friend....and other Mom with DD18 and DD18 girl Friend...the four teens are usually "Couples" and so that works out great.

I feel I am fairly knowledgeable about WDW...however I've been caught in the Family tradition rut re: Dining Options...and while I've read wonderful things about HDDR....I've never been. (It's at WL, Correct?)

SO....I want to recommend we try HDDR....but not sure....:confused3

Any advice? Will the teen's like it? They are very fun...and not stuffy at all about kid stuff...I just wondered if it was like most Disney shows...a little "suggestive" humor to make it somewhat grown up enough for these 18 year olds to like....

Also Food - how is it? Also Transportation...I'm hoping to stay at BC again...so we would ride the bus there? And how long would that take?

Thanks in advance...Disney Hugs to you All,:woohoo:

It's not at WL, it's at Fort Wilderness. I saw it last year, at 14, and loved it! It's a corny kind of humor, but I thought it was funny and cute. I'd see it again. We loved the food, too! I'll let someone else handle the transportation question--I can't really remember.

But I say go for it! They'll have fun.

Thanks Cinderella -

It's SO wonderful to have a TEEN perspective on it!

Thanks for your reply!

Hugs,
Mary

It really depends on the teens. My DS 17 would be fine with it but we have not been in a few years. Some would find it really stupid but it really is just fun corny jokes and lots of county type music. Good Food in our book! County style cooking and all you can eat. Great for teen boys!!!!!

Getting there is not always fun. Allow plenty of time. Take a bus to MK and the boat to FW. They have buses after the show to take you directly back to your resort but it tends to take a long time but you get to see a differnt area and we did not mind!!!

Cost is a little hight but we find it worth it.

Thanks a bunch for all the replies!

SO I guess it's 'so far so good'....

Thanks for the directions too...I'll have to plan it on a MK day....they'll love taking the boat to Fort Wilderness...

My teens loved the experiences like CRT dinner, 'Ohana bfast, and (of course) Adventurer's club....:cool1:

I picture this being something like that....all rolled into one...

interactive...Do they pick ppl from the audience?

Thanks again all !

Mary

We love HDDR! Our kids are 22, 17 and 13 and it is a required tradition: not by us but by them. I suggested that we skip it this year and spend the money on something else and what I got was a resounding "WHAT, no HDDR?" They love the silly humor and repeat the jokes along with the actors. This will be #7. We enjoy the show and the food and hope that you will too. Getting there can be a cahllenge but from the MK you take the boat to Ft Wilderness and it is just up the path on the right from the dock. To get back to your hotel depends on where you are staying and which seating you have. The easiest (though not alway easy) is by bus and they allow for the late show but leave as soon as the show is over and go straight to the busses if that is your only option. If it is an earlier show you can take the boat back to MK. The folks in the ticket window at HDDR can tell you the best method when you pick up your tickets. Have a great time!

All my teens loved it. Go for it...you won't be sorry!

We're taking our newly adopted 14 year old to HDDR this Saturday Night.

She knows nothing of WDW at all, except the little we have shared with her. We made her ask her friends if she should be excited or not. They offered to trade places with her. :) The closest she has ever been is Six Flags over Georgia, and, that isn't the same.

I think she is finally getting the idea.

Anyway, I'll try to let you know how she takes to it.

As for me and the Boss, the HDDR has become our annual tradition for Christmas. We'll be staying at FW anyway, so, we'll walk back to our tent.

I feel your pain!....

Mine are DS18, DSD17, and DSD16 Now....

Girls are the worst....(especially at 14)...

WHICH is why this particular WDW visit is just me, DS, and his friends/their parents. :lmao:

On the advice of others, we are taking our 14-yo to HDDR in June.

Conan, I feel your pain. I generally say, "She's 14 and very good at it!."

Some say we're insane to have adopted a 14 year old....others say we're crazy.

We haven't figured it out yet.

Actually she is a terrific child and fairly well behaved. At least we feel safe in taking her to WDW for a week. I keep looking back at what my Mom went through with me and it helps me keep perspective.

CARA - I would like to "borrow" that if you don't mind :lmao:

Conan - I would ask if both assessments were not appropriate... :rotfl:

AH...Gotta love the kids....Conan - you are right...I just keep reminding myself of how I was as a Teenage girl.....then I say "God gave me my DSD's to punish me for how I acted to my Mom" :rotfl2:

Well - Hugs to all

Wish me luck on getting Ressies on HDDR....another quick question.....which level would you recommend...I'd like to go on "cheap" 3? level...since I may have to pay for some of these kids..but I don't want them to miss out on the show...

Hugs,
Mary

Okay, I guess my teens are different...they think it's totally "lame" (their words, not, mind), and would much rather go to Planet Hollywood at DTD. :confused3

My almost 19 year old college freshman loves the HDDR. And so don't DH and I. We've been three or four times. In May when we head to WDW to celebrate DH's 65th birthday, his choice for dinner was the HDDR. My DD was very excited to hear that, especially since she has invited a friend to go with us! We are doing Tier One - a first for us. Before the Tier's we just ended up in the balcony by chance. And the last time we went was the only trip where we used the dining plan so it was Tier 2. We are all looking forward to it.

My teenage niece thought the HDDR was one of the highlights of their trip two years ago. She said she thought it was one of the best things at WDW.

We're back and I can report that the HDDR was a Hit with our 14 yrold. She still sings some of the songs.

We also enjoyed the food. :)

Thanks a bunch for the Response!

I've booked HDDR for our AK day.... (AK morning... Y&Y Snacks Lunch....HDDR around 5pm....I guess we'll take the bus there)

I booked Tier 1....Why not? It's just the 2 of us! Maybe that will help DSthen18 get 'into' it...although...he is one who can be counted on to get "into the WDW Magic"...

Hugs to All,
Mary
