Can someone explain tiers for Hoop dee doo and DDP? With DDP you only get to sit tier 2 or 3 and paying oop is for tier 1? I thought seating was based on when you booked show. Did all this change when they changed it to booking it 180 days prior verse 2 years?

When you purchase your tickets OOP you have a choice of Tier 1,2 or 3 with a different price for each. Tier 1 is the most expensive. As far as I understand, seating within the tier is based on when you make your reservation.

For DDP you can only book 2 or 3 and you let then know which you would like. Sometimes tier 2 is booked for the show you request so you can either take tier 3 or select a different show.

When I booked our HDDR ressies about a month ago they didn't ask which tier we wanted. I told them I had 1 adult and 1 child using credits and 1 adult paying oop. They said all they needed was our CC to hold the ressie, everything else would be decided when we picked up our tickets for HDDR at guest services at POP. Is this correct or should I call back?
Also is there somewhere online I can see the seating chart?

Call back to be sure of what your status is. Be sure they understand that you plan on "paying" with the Dining Plan.

I asked about this one... Disney has changed the entire seating/pricing of the HDDR from the previous first ressie/ best seats system. Tier 1, best seats are centrally located one the floor in front of the stage, and are the highest priced seats. Tier 2, floor seats but farther back and to the sides, second highest priced seats. Tier 3, balcony seats, least expensive.

Using DDP, your TS credits cover only Tier 2 and Tier 3.

I am paying oop this March for Tier 1 seats. I called yesterday to request a change in my ADR from the 7:15 to the 5:00 show. The CM told me that she could change my ADR however, as my original ressie was scheduled in Nov., when they are assigning seats, I was assured great seats within tier 1. If I changed my ressie to the 5:00 show, I was getting the very last seats available in Tier 1. With small children, I opted to keep the better seats at the later time.

Could someone tell me about the seats up in the balcony. Are they very high? I heard that they swivel. Is there a back rest to them? Could a very active 3 year old get in and out of them easily? How is the railing? Are there tables for 4 or do we have to share a table?

When I made my reservtions last May for Nov no one asked me about tiers either and we were on the DDP and we sat front row next to the stage.

So, maybe it is something new?

Yes, it is relatively new... no more than three or four months if my memory is right.

Thanks everyone and thanks for the maps jjphnson and luv's tink!

Tier 1 (of course) look great and tier 2 isn't too bad but tier 3....

I'm not sure if I'll pay oop for this or use 2 TS credits pp. Leaning toward oop.

I have 'till June to decide:)

So if you are on DDP there is no way to "upgrade" to Category 1 seating at HoopDeeDoo? The only option is to purchase it seperately outside the plan?

No, you can't upgrade with DDP - at least that is what people have been reporting.
