I just transfered over 1million HBC points into Airmiles. It seems to me that they once told me in would take 60 days.

Has anyone done this before? How long did it actually take for the Airmiles to show up. I've only got about a month until I need to redeem the AM's.

How many airmiles points did that turn into? I know it is a lot less. I get mine transferred once a month and it certainly hasn't accumulated into much.

2,000 HBC = 1 AM

my 1,012,000 turned into 506. I know it's not much but at least the AM rewards are better, for me anyway. I am getting Disneyland passes and I'm a bit short so adding my HBC will get my passes plus 1 of my 4 Seaworld SD tickets. In the event that the points aren't transfered in time I'll just buy the extra miles.

Any idea if you can get HBC points for getting gas at Esso? You can pay with the HBC credit card.

thanks for posting, i have about 1mill points too but realize 1mill does not get you much these days ;) so yes, i would love to convert them.
How do you go about converting them?

You go on the HBC site and there is a link that says 'convert HBC to Airmiles'. You can do either a one time transfer or you can set up a weekly transfer.

If you go on the AM site in the coupons & bonus area you can get 50 AM just for signing up for the weekly HBC transfer.

It only takes about 24hrs, so check your AM balance online.

Yes, that is one of the incentives for using your HBC credit card there. You receive 50 HBC points for every dollar charged. :goodvibes

I haven't converted HBC to Air Miles but I have done HBC to Esso and that took about 3 business days.

Do you need to swipe your HBC rewards card? I don't remember that being an option on the pump.

I was told the same thing - that it would take up to 60 days - when I did it last year in March. It actually took about 2 weeks.

I really hope that it only takes 2 weeks max. I need the miles to order my Disneyland passes and I don't want to wait past about Feb. 15. We are leaving on March 10th.

I just applied for the AM Amex card as well, with 350 bonus miles. If that comes through around the same time we would have enough, plus a few dollars, for 1 Seaworld SD ticket.

Something weird....I just got my online HBC statement and it has my balance as 942,000 points but yesterday I had 1,012,000.

You transfer the Esso points to HBC points and then HBC to airmiles. I do it all the time.

I thought that the exception was the Esso points ie: no transfer from HBC to AM ? If you're doing it it must be ok. Did they change that?

Are you referring to the Esso Extra points? Unfortunately, you cannot do that. I work at an HBC store and have dealt with several customer issues concerning just this. I know it may 'appear' that it is working, but what is happening is, whatever points your accumulating by using your HBC Credit Card and Rewards card, only those points are being transferred over, if you ask the store to look up your account activity, any points that were originally transferred from Esso Extra points to HBC points, will still be sitting in your account and are only able to be used/redeemed for HBC rewards items like gift cards, HBC Rewards catalogue orders etc.

No, it is the same policy.

I thought this was the case. Thanks for clearing it up.

Since you can link your HBC credit card to the rewards card to get points on an Esso gas purchase can you still swipe the Esso Extra card and double dip?

I hope that made sense someplace outside of my head.:scratchin

I have a speedpass. Swipe at the tank and it automatically charges it to my HBC cc and hbc points and esso points. All with one swipe. (was wonderful when kidlet was in a carseat and I didnt have to drag her into the station to pay in the dead of winter... anyway)

I then transfer my Esso points to HBC . When I do try to transer them to AM they will not allow me to transfer a certain amount of points. It may be them , it may be HBC Bonus points or someother wrinkle.

With the speedpass you don't need to let HBC know and you can 'double dip" even if you can't flip them ALL to airmiles.
