Hayes Family at WDW: Day 4 - Disney Studios/MGM
Wednesday, December 13th
My parents met us at the hotel and brought McDonalds for everyone. We took a boat to Disney Studios/MGM. We went on Muppet Vision 4D which we all liked, and then Pat and Sam went to look at a fire engine while the rest of us went on Star Tours. We all liked this too. There were no waits for this or any of the other rides we went on. Next we did The Great Movie Ride and Voyage of the Little Mermaid, which is really cute and mesmerized Sam. We had lunch at Hollywood and Vine. The food was okay and the character interaction was great. The restaurant was pretty empty so the characters came to visit several times. We took turns watching the kids while the grown-ups did Rock-N-Roller Coaster. This is one of the best roller coaster any of us had been on - don't miss it. We next saw Beauty and the Beast, but Sam wanted to go back after wards. I was a little bummed because I would of liked to go on Tower or Terror, but when you take kids I think you really need to be sensitive to when they have had enough.
Back at the hotel, Sarah went swimming with the other adults, while Sam and I played in the room. He then took a short nap. I called my pet sitter to check on my dogs, and she said they weren't eating much. I have never left them for this long so I was worried. When Sam woke up, we all went to the Magic Kingdom to see the Main Street Electrical Parade. The parade was just starting, but we were able to get okay spots since the park was not crowded. I loved this parade. We said our good-byes to my parents who were leaving and we took a boat to Fort Wilderness to see the Hoop Dee Doo review. The kids just loved this show, and asked to go back every night for the rest of the trip. We thought it was okay, just not our taste (though we appreciated the talent and energy of the cast). Unfortunately getting back to the hotel was a nightmare. It took 3 buses and about 1 1/2 hours. From what I heard, this is usually the case; I don't know why Disney doesn't improve this situation. I tried to let this bother me too much since the rest of the transportation had been so great. The bright side is that they had been testing New Years Eve fireworks all week at the different parks, and we were able to see MGMs from the bus. They were really beautiful.
When we got to the hotel there was a message that the power would be out from 2:00 to 2:30 a.m. No big deal except that at 2:15, Sarah started vomiting all over the bed. We didn't have any lights to see to clean up, so I wasn't sure what to do. I called Housekeeping to ask for some new sheets and they were up in 5 minutes and took care of everything. I was really impressed by their promptness and how nice they were. They left a flashlight so we could bathe Sarah. Afterward, we went to bed. Sarah woke up the next morning good as new (sigh of relief).
