I found Hawthorn Suites by Sea World. They have a room not suite for $40/night. Does anyone know how they stack up? They give Hyatt rewards points, so that's a good affiliation.

There is a different Hawthorne Suites (LBV), but I'm asking about the one without the "e."

Thanks :)

P.S. I called them and found out a lot that was not on the web. Like the non-chain Hawthorne, Hawthorn offers a hot breakfast. They also have a property by Universal that only has suites, not rooms, so it is more expensive. Thus we have booked at the Sea World location on Westwood Blvd. I think this is near the other place we stayed last time, a nice location. Looking forward to it!

Pixie_Dust,

Just so you know, the Hawthorn Suites at Lake Buena Vista doesn't have an e either. They are all part of the same company. However, all Hawthorns are franchised and I believe the Universal and Sea World Hawthorn's have the same owners. All Hawthorn Suites offer a hot buffet breakfast 7 days a week.

There are 4 Hawthorn Suites in Orlando. The 3 mentioned, and one by the airport. While I have never stayed at any of them, I have heard great things about all of them. As a disclaimer, I need to mention that I do work for a Hawthorn Suites in California, but not one that is owned by the same franchisee as any of the Orlando properties.

Best of luck with your trip.

Tammie,

The LBV Hawthorne website (with an "e") has a logo that looks different from the other Hawthorn's-without-an-"e" (more like a Marriott logo, don't know if this is a coincidence). The Hawthorn rep I phoned said there was no Hawthorne-with-an-"e," but then how come I found a web site? They said the LBV property must not be part of a chain. In the end it doesn't matter because I have booked the $40 room at the Sea World property and am thrilled with the rate and looking forward to staying there.

Cheers :)

we stayed at hawthorn suites at SW on
westwood blvd. in March 2000.We had a rate of $79.00 if my memory serves. It was really nice, and the free b-fast was a FULL b-fast, and very tasty and filling. We had a suite, we had 6 ppl in it and were fine. the suite had a mini kitchen and one nite we just had chili dogs and chips in the room. it was nice to eat in the room and relax and not drag the kids to a restaraunt. I would recommend. this hotel if you get a decent rate!;)

Ok, I just got back from our Trip to Orlando, after two weeks away...... We spent 4 nights at the Hawthorn Suites at Seaworld on Westwood Blvd. It was nice. But as another poster mentioned, the hotel itself is kind of in need of a rehab. Nothing bad mind you. Just that the rooms were a little dated. The hotel was exceptionally clean though and we were impressed with the size of the rooms. I paid 59.00 per night plus tax and was very satisfied at that rate. If I had paid over 100.00 I would have been disapointed. The only real complaint I had was the pillows felt like they were 10 years old, lumpy old things.. ;) The pool area was great. We spent almost a whole day in the pool.. The free hot breakfast was great, very good qaulity and quantity. I would stay there again, if the price was right...

If anyone has any more specific questions, feel free to ask away...

We just spent 3 nights at the Hawthorn Suites/Sea World on Westwood Blvd. last week. We had a suite for $58 a night thru
hotelkingdom.com. We were quite satisfied with our stay there.
As noted, the suite decor is a little tired and in need of a renovation but housekeeping was superior. The place was very clean. The pool area is nice, the kids enjoyed it very much. There is also a small playground for little kids along with a kiddie pool.
There is a small game room with about 6 video games. The suites have two TV's, one in the bedroom and one in the completely separate living area (unlike for example, AmeriSuites which really is just one big room that is partitioned off.) It is a full kitchen with medium size refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. There is a VCR and Nintendo in the living room. Rentals for both are available in the sundries shop in the lobby. Breakfast is quite good. They have scrambled eggs each morning and vary the breakfast meat each day from ham to sausage. Some mornings hot biscuits, others potatoes or french toast. Bagels, English muffins, toast, cereals. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available 24/7.

I'll be happy to answer any other questions.
