We are booked here for Set. at 67.00 for 6 people, are there any other suites that offer breakfast buffet, shuttles and a better pool? we want something nice that can accomodate 6 people. Any ideas that are better than Hawthorn suites?

Which Hawthrone Suites are you booked to stay?If it's the one on Canada Ave.I can recommend that one. It's very nice-the rooms are LARGE and CLEAN.It has a great breakfast buffet and cocktail reception in the evening. We didn't use the bus to and from the parks as we had a rental car and preferred using that. The Quality Suites, right across the street was nice as well.

If you are staying at the Hawthorn Suites SeaWorld on Westwood Boulevard - I can certainly recommend it! I have stayed there four different times, and we love it. We stayed there in a two bedroom suite with 6 people, and it was great! Plenty of room for all of us. The breakfast buffet has a wide variety of food - and last time they even served hot food like scrambled eggs and waffles. The pool is very pretty with nice landscapping. The hotel is very clean and nice, and the staff was fine, too. :)

Next month we are going to WDW, but we are staying at the Hawthorn Suites in Lake Buena Vista, since the Hawthorn Suites SeaWorld is completely booked! I have heard all good things about the Hawthorn Suites Lake Buena Vista, so I am looking forward to it!

You got a rate of $67 a night???? WOW!! I paid $139 a night for my two bedroom suite a couple of years ago!

Near the Hathorn Suites LBV, you will find the Summerfield Suites which are nice, too.

Also the Residence Inn LBV is about a mile further down Palm Parkway. They have 2 br suites, too.

The pool at the RI is nice, but I don't know if its "better" than the Hawthorn one.

the hawthorn suites at universal is $9.00 more a night than the one at Lake Buena Vista. The difference being that they offer a shuttles to universal, sea world, and wet& wild. The other just shuttels to disney. We won't be going to Disney until the folling week when we move to Allstars. We have our car, but would we like the shuttles better? The hotels are the same so I just need to know about the shuttles. Any suggestions?

We stayed at the Hawthorne Suites LBV in May of 2001, we liked it very much. The room was very large and it was very nice to have the full size refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher!

We thought that the breakfast buffett was good, we always had plenty of choices.

We thought the pool was nice, not themed, but adequate. There is no kiddie pool but there is a hot tub. There is also a basketball court.

The location was great, very quick drive to the parks.

I would definitely recommend this one!

Have fun!

Leah :)

how about the drive to universal and sea world? There is another Hawthorn on canada by universal that provides shuttles to everything but disney. I'm not sure if we should switch it's just a little more. Just don't know about driving around and parking, but I don't know how reliable the shuttles are either. Both of the hotels are the same otherwise. It's for 6 nights until we move to the ASMO. If they keep cutting all the perks of staying onsite then we may just stay at Hawthorn the entire time. Since we're going in Sept. they prob. won't have any Enights : ( I just hope that the "magic" of staying onsite is worth it.

Actually it was rather easy to get to Universal, we just went down Palm Parkway the opposite direction and then we were there, ask for directions, but, it was very simple and fast. I liked the location because it was close to everything, but, it still felt like it was buy itself.

presleyg -- what a great price for decent accomodations for 6. Thanks for posting your info about the various shuttle services. The amount of choices in Orlando has me going around in circles when I'm trying to make decisions.

So can you tell us where you found your great rate for this Hawthorn Suites LBV? Sorry, if it's already been covered or is obvious.

Here's the link for the LBV one the other one near Sea world is www.orlandosuites.com it was alittle bit more but they have shuttles to the other parks, LBV only shuttles to Disney parks. Hope that is helpful. I think we're gonna keep on ressies at the LBV, if the drive isn't a biggie. With the orlando flex ticket, if you pay for parking at one park and keep your recipept the parking at other parks are free. ( not Disney) When are you going?

If someone in your party is 50 or over, you can get a Senior Saver rate at Holiday Inn Family Suites. They have 2 bedroom suites in September for around $89 (or even less if the Senior is 70 or over). The full hot breakfast is pretty good and they have 2 large pools. The hotel is only about 3 years old so it is modern and still in good condition. You have to call the hotel to get the rate. It is not available to book through the web site. Check out the web site at www.hifamilysuites.com

presleyg: We're going around Dec. 30 to Jan 10, 2003. We're driving down and are trying to put in a day at each Florida coast as well. I am booked for Fort Wilderness Tent Camping from Jan 1 (beginning of Value Season) to Jan 8 at an awful price so far (counting on DisneyClub discounts to be announced in Fall -- I hope). We also have reservations at HIFS Kidsuite for Jan 8 & 9 at $109 for a break from air mattresses and some relaxing (taking full advantage of the Kids Eat Free times) before we take the long drive home Friday. I'm also hoping here that they will announce the Buy 1 Night Get 1 Night Free offer (off of Rack Price) at that time again and then price may come down to $70 or something.

Mickeykart, thanks for advice on great prices at HIFS with a senior, but for some of us the price break isn't worth it to put our husband & mother-in-law in the same Hotel on our vacation. Never mind my own sanity! LOL. I'm sure the info will help others lots though.

Now, we still have to come up accomodations for ourselves somewhere in Florida when we decide what we're doing for Dec. 30 & New Year's Eve. And, of course, with all this great info about so many other places that will accomodate larger families so well with breakfasts, cocktails, cool pools...and no Early Entry for on-site guests camping all those days at Ft. Wilderness (cooking!) is looking a lot less appealing.

Sorry for long post. Thanks for your interest presleyg. Hawthorn Suites LBV shows a price of $129 Dec 30 to Jan 1. Jan 2 is $89. Jan 3 and on is $79 for Queen Suite from their avistahotels site -- like that last price with all the features they offer. The SeaWorld one is same price until Jan 1. Jan 2 and on it is $89.

So I continue going in circles for awhile... CaribeRoyal Suites, Country Inn & Suites, Residence Inn.... stay as we are, change what we have some....

We tried tent camping at FW last Sept. I didn't realize the sites were all sand and that it rains daily. We camp here in Mo, but the wet sand was something else to deal with. On Sept. 10 last year we came back from a great day at MGM and our tent was collasped and flooded. The CM's were great and put us in a cabin and loaded all our wet stuff (everything) into a truck and took us up to the laundry for a night of free washing and drying. By 1:30 am we were done and in a dry cabin. Next morning (9/11) me and the girls went to our PS at cinderella's and the boys stayed to deal with tent. Right after breakfast the sirens went off and they closed the park. I was so glad we were in the cabin and had the TV. Anyways later that same week tropical storm Gabrelia came and FW was evacuated. They put us in two rooms at the Cont. for what we wre paying for the tent site. It sounds unreal but despite everything it really was wonderful. This year we are going to start in a hotel and save time! I hope that the weather is better for you. I think the lower rates at Hawthorn are the off season. Good luck!

CdnMom2,
Just wanted to let you know to keep watching the Hawthorn Suites LBV site because they do offer sales quite regularly. We are staying there starting this Sunday. When I first booked a queen suite it was for $89.00. I signed up for the Avista hotels newletter (you can do this at the top of the Hawthorn Suites LBV website) and a few weeks later I got a newsletter advertising a sale. I saw our hotel listed so I tried our dates and the price was now 76.00 a night. I re-booked on the computer and the next day, the woman from the hotel called me. She had noticed we had two reservations and wondered if we wanted two rooms or just the new rate. I told her we just wanted the cheaper rate and she changed our existing reservation. I have also seen rates as low as 67.00 a night but unfortunately it was for the week after our vacation not our week. I realize your vacation is during a busy season but it doesn't hurt to keep checking. Good luck and I hope you have a great vacation!:)

Thank you presleyg & LeahA. I have signed up at the avista hotels newsletter & have been checking hotelkingdom. Mainly I have hope that better are yet to be released as it is still quite early.

i checked out the value trips website that had hawthorn suites seaworld they had that at $64.50 for a 1 bedroom suite for the time i needed it so then i called hotel kingdom who do the same hotel for $71.90 or something like that so anyway i called hotel kingdom and asked aboyt rate champion and asked if they still match the cheaper price and an extra $5 off per night so i ended up getting the hotel for a great rate of $59 per night not bad ehh. well now can anyone tell me what the rooms are like and the hotel i know it has some good reports but any extra info would be helpful ps i am staying there for 14 nights thats why im soooooo excited about the great discount!!
thanks in advance for any info
margaret.

If you are still looking for the $67.00 rate it is available with AAA at www.orlandoaaa.com.:bounce:

Has anyone stayed at the Hawthorn Suites near the airport (MCO)? We are staying there the night before we leave to go home in August. Just wondered if it is as nice or new as the others in Orlando. Thanks in advance.
