Has anyone ever stayed there? We know we are going to stay offsite and are considering there or Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista. We have 2 kids age 9 and 5 if that helps any.

We'll be there Friday night and I'll post when we return.

FYI -- www.tripadvisor.com gives you GREAT reviews of hotels all over the country. Just put in Hawthorn Lake Buena Vista (or any hotel and city) and you'll get results. It was very well rated.

We just returned Sat from a week long stay at Hawthorn Suites LBV. The suites are a very generous size. The bedroom has 2 queen size beds, and a sofa bed in the living room. The suite was very clean, and stocked with just about eberything you would need (dishes, pots and pans, utensils, papertowels, even dis detergent!). The whole hotel was very clean and well-maintained. We were very pleased with our stay, and are planning to stay there again when we return in March. The breakfast buffet was quite adequite for the kids ( sons age 16 and 7, and daughter age 7), with eggs, sausages, bagels, english muffins, toast, cereal, donuts, juices and coffee. I felt like we actually got a very good deal for the money. Hope this helps!

We were very happy with Hawthorn, and you have to know that I am very picky bc I am in hotels 4-5 nights per month.

The suite was large, immaculate and comfortable. The thing we liked best is the split bath set-up, whereby the sink area is separate from tub/toilet so that the bathroom can be used by more than one person at a time.

Everything about this hotel is first rate. If you have questions, let me know.

McNuss I just noticed you did a very helpful comparison of Vistana and Cypress Pointe so my question is how do the Hawthorne Suites LBV compare to Cypress Pointe. Both of these are on my shortlist as well as Amerisuites/Country Inn suites LBV.

Thanks if you can help

Denise :)

ear_poppin, sorry I haven't been able to reply sooner.

I thought Hawthorn compared quite favorably to CP, here is a directo comparison:

Rooms: Hawthorn, very new, very comfy. But MUCH smaller of course - most notably in the "main" room which is easily 75% smaller than in CP. The living area in CP is HUGE. Bigger than our first house! Hawthorn has no DVD or stereo, and only a 2 burner hot plate for cooking. Also, of enormous importance to me, no washer/dryer. I am an underpacker - 3 of us take one duffel and one 15 in. rollie for a week. I pack us each 4 outfits so I have to be able to do laundry at my convenience, eg: no laundramat. One bonus to Hawthorn is that you'd get daily housekeeping which you don't get in a timeshare.

Grounds: Equal, really. The pool at Hawthorne looked nice, we did not use it though.

Amenities: Hawthorn offered free breakfast. The coffee was gross, and DD did not like the juice (it's one of those dispensers). If we had stayed there longer, I would have grocery shopped for breakfast items to supplement the free bkfst. Hawthorn seemed to have a shuttle to the parks, as did CP. Not sure if there was a cost to that.

For my money, I'd take CP bc of the laundry and space, even if I was in an older unit.

You did not ask, but personally, I hate Amerisuites. I've never been happy at one, they feel really low-budget to me. We stayed at 1 Country Inn and Hawthorn was nicer. We like Homewood and Hawthorn was much more like that.

Hope this helps.

That really was very helpful ,thank you very much. I must admit I did notice the washer dryer thing as well! I'm staying 3 weeks just me and 2 DS age 5 and 8 leaving DH at home so I will need to do some washing! Its the washing versus the breakfast really!!

Thanks

IMHO, the washer beats the breakfast hands down. Plus, for 3 weeks, you'll really appreciate all that extra space. You will get housekeeping at CP every week, so you won't have to do sheets/towels (plus, they give you TONS of towels, we had about 4 bath towels per bathroom, as well as pool towels). I think you'll also appreciate the full complement of kitchen utensils as well, vs. the minimal things in the hotel.

I also forgot to mention that you can actually see CP from the back windows of the Hawthorn, so in terms of location, they are exactly equal.
