Hawaiian Honeymoon

Hello! We are looking to take our honeymoon in Maui at the end of July. I'm looking for some reviews of accomodations for Kaanapali/Lahaina. I've stayed at the Whaler so I know that's great. I have also been looking at VRBO and it seems as though they have better deals than the hotels. Any suggestions? Thanks!

For our honeymoon we stayed at the Hyatt. Of course we were also married at a Hyatt which allowed us to take advantage of their honeymoon rate in Hawaii which was about half off. The Hyatt is about a 5 - 10 minute walk from the Whaler. The pool at the Hyatt was amazing and overall a very nice hotel.

We also stayed at the Four Seasons, which is amazing to a different level. You stop by the pool desk on your way to breakfast and get to pick your cabana which is yours for the day assuming you show up before 10am. No extra charge. Small but great beach. Really amazing restaurants in all directions on site and at other resorts. Depending on the season the Four Seasons isn't as expensive as you might think.

We rented a condo thru VRBO at Puamana. Our condo was beachfront so it was less than 50 ft to the beach. Great views of Lanai, and beautiful sunsets.
Would do it again in a heartbeat.

We stayed at the Mahana in Ka'anapali and loved it! It's set back off the main road and right on the water. If you stay there get a unit higher up above say the 6th or 7th floor so you can have a great ocean view above the palm trees.

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua (15 min north of Kaanapali) and it was our favorite of all of our Hawaiian stays. It was an easy drive to Kaanapali but provided a more secluded/private hotel stay.

We stayed there too...10 years ago.

It was great & I was happy with it because-

We had a washer & dryer in our room.

We had a kitchen in our room-great for breakfast & fixing lunch & much cheaper too.

And most important, we had an ocean front/view room for alot less then any of the Hotels. Heck we couldn't of had a garden view room at a Hiton/Hyatt/Marriott, etc.. or whatever else was at the Black Rock(?) area for the price we paid. I think back then it was about $150/night.

Oh & I think we got one night free after so many because we stayed the entire 2 weeks on 4 islands at an Aston chain.
