Has anyone( that really can't stand smoking), had to stay in a smoking room-because of crowded situation? (I don't think I could bear this. )

Yes we have on rare occasions, but I dont think ever at Disney. Its a real pain for me at least, hate it. But I dont think at Disney in my many times I ever had to be "stuck" in a smoking room.

I think I would have to refuse to stay in a smoking room. They smell would just ruin everything. My little one has allergies and is really sensitive so I would be very upset.

It has never happened to us at WDW. I would also refuse to stay in one. I will not pay over $200/night for a room that smells like stale cigarette smoke. :p

Nope and I won't. I always request a non-smoking for medical reasons. I myself am allergic to cig. smoke. But it's my dd that has the real problem. She starts wheezing and if not caught in time, it can become a full blown ashtma attack. Not letting that happen while on vacation. If I can smell smoke in a room, we have to get a new one. I try not to be demanding but if they promise me one, then I'm getting one.

Why?? It's not like anyone will be smoking in your room.

For many people - myself included - it's not just the physical smoke that creates a problem. The smell triggers an allergic reaction for me, and my eyes dry out, and swell, and I start sneezing.

The residual smells trigger an asthma attack in my fiancée, in addition to the same symptoms I earlier described.

What a charming way to begin a vacation.

If my dh goes out with his friends to a bar, he usuallly comes home reeking of smoke. My nose itches, eyes itch, throat itches and then starts swelling up. I wish people would realize that you don't have to be standing next to someone who is smoking to suffer the effects. Poor dh has to literally take off his sweater in the garage!!!

Because the room smells terrible! I definately wouldn't pay over 200.00 a night in a room that smells like stale cigerettes...

My DH used to be a smoker and even he hated smoking hotel rooms... (No he didn't smoke in them)

When checking in early at Ft Wilderness once, they only had Smoking Cabins available we would have had to waite for a non smoking unit. They gave us a key and told us to check it out if we found it smoky they would move us when a non smoking unit became available. There was no smell of smoke in the room including the bedroom. We had no complaints.

I understand the allergy part, but for those who don't have allergies, would you let it completely ruin your vacation??

How do you go out to dinner? Even though there is a smoking and non smoking section, the smoke is still there. Do you let it ruin your dinner?:confused3

When you are out at restaurants you are not smelling it the whole time... You make catch "whiffs" of smoke and that doesn't bother me... What I would hate is to go to sleep and smell it in my pillow..

Would it ruin my vacation? NO, but I would be EXTREMELY dissappointed with my room.

Now they if offered me a an upgrade to either Lagoonview or conceirge for free with a smoking room. I would DEFINATELY take it...

The smell of stale cigarette smoke is offensive to me, so yes, if I was in a smoking room, I'd be VERY upset. Also, all restaurants at WDW are non-smoking, so there is no smoke in any of the restaurants there.

I don't have allergies to smoke, but prefer to not be around it, and I would definitely not sleep in a smokers room. The smell would get to me. But my son has allergies and asthma so we would never stay in a smokers room anyway. So there is no "making do" with a smoking room, we just couldn't stay there if there were no other rooms available. Smoking stinks.:p

ITA with the others who have posted about their sensitivities to residual cigarette smoke. It never seems to matter what housekeeping sprays in the rooms to "remove the odor," it still causes respiratory difficulties for my entire family. How can you honestly expect a spray to remove ALL of the nicotine that has built up on & smoke that has penetrated the walls, ceilings, carpets and draperies? There is no "Magic" than can do this. DD & I would have heavy nasal congestion by the middle of the 1st night (most likely developing respiratory infections after several days of this), and DH would experience asthma attacks and nasal congestion within moments.

I would demand another resort if I were forced into this situation.

No, but then I don't have to sleep there.

That's why I LOVE WDW....all the restaurants are NON smoking!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc In real life......sometimes if the smoking area is not completely seperate...it DOES bother me.

From a family of asthmatics, definitely no. we would never accept a smoking room. They could comp us the room and I still wouldn't want it. Sometimes, the sprays they use to "mask" the smoke are even worse than the smoke itself. The floral scents to cover up odors just set us all sneezing and wheezing.
