Having to argue with Walmart

My local Walmart had this in store at 299.00, but listed it for 199.00 online.
But they also listed it at that $199 price point at our store and listed the exact isle it was on. My husband had to raise cain because they didnt want to give it to him at 199.00, but they relented. Ughhhhhhh, why?

Was it actually Walmart selling the item for that price? Or was it a 3rd Party selling it via Walmart for cheaper? If its a 3rd party, they don't have to price match.

No, it was Walmart. They had to price match. It was just strange though, I didn't see that 3 series anywhere else for no more than 199.00. So I just assumed when I sent my husband up there it would be that price or less. I was shocked they were asking 299.00 for it. I now wonder if they just had it priced wrong.

I guess I don’t understand. You got what you wanted for the price you wanted. Why spend any more time thinking about this?
Just wondering why they had to be so difficult or if they had it priced incorrectly, that is all. Good grief?????

Were you buying an Apple 3 watch? It sounds like it based on the you stating "3 series" and the prices you're listing. If so, it might Walmart not recognizing the difference between the Wifi ($199) and cellular versions ($299). It's hard to tell which one you're buying based on the box alone--I needed to flip mine over on the backside and read the fine print.

It could be that it was a cellular Apple 3 watch (which was appropriately scanning at $299, even for Walmart), but everyone including your husband and Walmart employees thought it was a Wifi one. If it prompts you to establish a cellular connection when you set it up, you'll know you got an upgrade for free.

Sometimes I feel that stores list items at inflated prices just so that they can put them on sale for the real price. Buy it “on sale” and you think you’re getting a deal. Buy it at the normal, overpriced amount and you’re getting a raw deal. Kohl’s is such a store. I’d never ever pay their list price for anything.

Incorrect pricing is annoying, but happens so often now. I see it often on groceries, but doesn’t typically make a fuss because the effort isn’t worth it. Recently however, I received 10 dollars in an adjustment on a meat item. I wasn’t letting that go.

How is anyone who was not one of the two parties making the transaction supposed to know? Did your husband ask why they weren’t price matching?

And now it sounds like you might have been done a BIG favor, so complaining about it after the fact looks even more puzzling.

Target always has cheaper prices online than in the store. Even for simple things like neutrogena products. It's kind of a pain at check out to have to pull up each item on their website to have them price-match, but they do it. (not everything, there are products I just know are different prices) :)
I'm sure most people don't bother, but when something is $21.99 in store and $17.99 online, I ask for a price match!

I think that's what OP is talking about?

Can you order online and get store pickup? I prefer that to the hassle of price matching.

I never even thought of that! :rotfl:

I live so close to Target so I usually just do pop ins to get small things I need. But that's a good idea, if I know I'm getting the products I usually price match, I should order online, then pick that order up in the store while I do my other miscellaneous shopping.

I usually do store pick up just to stack discounts. Target doesn't look to have huge ones though:

I learned something, I didn't know there were two versions of this watch one being cellular and more expensive. Which version was the one you bought?
