The bad news is that I do in fact need surgery and it will take place on July 16th. The reason for the delay is the good news...

The Dr. said I should go to WDW and have a good time. Time enough for surgery when you get back. He proclaimed himself a closet Disney nut and stated that he understood the need for a WDW vacation before your summer gets ruined by having to wear a neck brace for the rest of it.

He will be fusing the vertebra at the C5-6 level and putting in a titanium plate. This will shorten the recovery time. Also, he will not be taking bone from my hip but rather from the bone bank. This will also shorten my recovery.

So, all in all it sounds like I am in good hands and I intend to use my time at WDW to relax and gear up. There will be NO BTMRR on this trip!

Enjoy your trip and try to not worry. :)

Your doctor is my kinda neurosurgeon!! Enjoy your vacation and then you can be relaxed and ready for your surgery and convalescence afterward...good for you!

Very cool!! Go and enjoy your vacation! I think you should bring the doc some kind of souvenir back!

Good luck and I know you will do fine during the surgery! It has good results!

Have a great trip and let us know how you fare without doing the wild rides this trip! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_2_111.gif' border=0></a> I can't do them when we go in November.

Just make sure he does not fool with your voice. :) Best wishes and a prayer, Linda, for good results, quick and full recovery after the surgery. Enjoy your WDW, I know how much you look forward to them. My best.

thanks everybody for the kind words.

I KNOW it is going to be fine. Mental and emotional attitude is 75% of a good recovery and I am working it to the max!

Dan, the vocal thing is my one concern here. Because they go in from the front andmove your voice box around a bit, hoarseness can be one unfortunate side effect of the surgery. I have to believe that it will all work the way it is supposed to in the end.

Linda

Linda,

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery!! Have a fabulous trip to WDW!!!:D

Enjoy your trip and best of luck with your surgery. Nice to have an understanding Disney doc. Sounds like he deserves a set of mouseears.
