This has gone on for a while and had hoped it would get better, it hasn't. I have been having problems breathing! It doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally during the day and almost always at night in bed. I try and take a breath but seem only to 'fill' half my lungs. I am yawning constantly, not because I am tired; but because I am trying to get more oxygen in my lungs. I am pretty sure that its not asthma, I am not wheezing. It does seem to get worse at night. I even have a hard time kissing my DH..sorry too much info>>>but its like he literally 'sucks' the air right out of me. Any ideas???

Sorry, I don't have ideas, but it sounds serious enough not to ignore. Go see your doctor.

How do you know it's not asthma? I have asthma and only wheeze when I have bronchitis.
You need to call your Dr and ask for a breathing test.

i dont wheeze but I have been having horrible breathing problems too; probably worsened by my pregnancy. The doctors have said that it looks exactly like asthma, you dont have to wheeze. I really feel like no matter what I do I cant get a full breath, exactly as you describe. I would call a doc asap and get some medications. This winter I have heard of a lot of people struggling with this. There have been a few threads about asthma in the last few days so you might want to do a search.

Sometimes with a cold I wheeze, i don't have asthma but the symptoms are the same and it needs to be addressed by a Dr. It is worse when you are lying down because the lungs aren't inflated as well and fluid / congestion settle more at night.

I agree that it sounds a lot like asthma to me. I have asthma, and I don't wheeze ever. I do sometimes get a cough, and before I started using an inhaler I had a lot of times where it felt like I couldn't get a full breath. And I was a voice major and a voice teacher! It was killing me to sing, so I saw a doctor and sure enough, it's asthma.

I really recommend making a doctors appointment and telling the doctor all of your symptoms. S/He will probably have you do a breath "puff" test to see what your lung capacity is like - that's a better indication of asthma than wheezing.

Actually it does sound like asthma. When I was first diagnosed, I had almost the same symptoms... You should see a Doctor...
