...for some reason I can't seem to get myself to sit down and make a plan for our upcoming trip.We will be at Disney in early may, arriving on the 12th at 6am and will be leaving the 19th at 6pm.We have 5 day base tickets and a "fun day". we definitely want to do a day at kennedy space center especially since we are pulling DD out of school for the week calling it a field trip ;).
ADR's aren't an issue as we are not foodies and I am less than impressed with most of the dining at the world. The wife and daughter would like a trip to one of the water parks though.
I find myself conflicted on how the maximize our time while trying to fit it all in without wearing ourselves out.
anyone else having this problem? any super planners here who have some advice? I am all ears (pun intended)

You probably already know that you simply can't do and see everything in 5 days. I am assuming that you want to at least plan to the point of making FP+ at 60 days out. Probably the first place to start is just deciding how you want to approach your days. Will you rope drop? Will you take an afternoon break? Will you count on being in the park all day? Our general approach is to plan the first part of the day, including one TS meal. Part of our table talk is deciding what do do the rest of the day...what else to do in that park, whether to hit the resort to swim, what nighttime show to catch that evening (we PH, which opens up more options)...it is how I balance my desire to plan/do everything and my family's desire to not feel overscheduled. Out of our six nights, only two have predetermined activities (SWAGS dessert party and The Void at DS).

Next I would figure out what park to start each day in....you can look at crowd predictions, park hours, show schedules etc....and go from there.

Perhaps if you decide on a touring style and pick your park days, getting into the detail will seem more appealing and productive.

Hope I am not just telling you things you've already considered!

As for mixing in non-Disney days, I don't have an approach to offer. My Disney trips (few and far between) are all-Disney.
