GF GV or WL CL?? Ack!! I can't decide!!!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

That is a hard one! Does the look of the new rooms at GF appeal to you?

My dh doesn't like the darkness of WL and loved VGF so for him I would do GF but DD and I like them all but prefer CL's. For my upcoming trip the price was the same for my dates for WL cl and Poly cl and she love, love. loves the beach at Poly and being on the monorail so I picked that. However so many people rave about WL cl that I will definitely try it someday!

Remember you can still shop, walk and eat at the one you don't choose!

I agree....WL CL is amazing ::yes::. WL CL runs a very close second to RPC for me, so I'm anxious to try AKL CL to see how that fits in ;).

The CMs are so nice!

I do the same thing with our trips.....it's a vacation for all of us and I always want everyone to be happy :goodvibes.

I agree.....since RPC sent you to YC CL, I think it's time for YC to send you to RPC ::yes::.
:lmao: It's still a fear of mine booking RPC, they just don't want me :goodvibes It is an awesome thought, than I can tell DH/ babe it was meant to be:flower3:

:teeth: Wouldn't that be something?! We loved YC CL, btw - I know you've tried it, but the suite trip was kind of a let down since you had planned RPC deluxe. Maybe this time you will fall in love, the CMs there certainly treat guests very well.
I do think that was the problem my friend  The CMs went above and beyond at YC! Not to mention the GM from GF calling and sending flowers to make sure we were taken care of. I have wonderful memories of our suite at YC. It's all good, and it will be all good!! But it would be AWESOME to be walked to RPC :cool2:

It's definitely a great deal and because I'm such a "nut" when it comes to savings, I'm planning to pay this trip off with discounted Disney Gift Cards that I'll be getting at Target in order to save close to an additional 10% off my already reduced price :)

I don't blame you.....buying gift cards at Target is a great idea to save a little extra :thumbsup2.

GF GV or WL CL?? Ack!! I can't decide!!!

That's a tough decision as we've stayed both WL CL and GF GV and they are both great choices. Is there one or the other that would be doable later on if there wasn't a big discount? If so, I'd go with the one that might not be doable later on without a big discount and maybe try the other one on a future trip :confused3. I love both for different reasons as they are both great places to stay. Good luck with your decision, but you can't go wrong with either one, IMO.

I've been a Poly 'guy' for a while but the combination of Poly construction uncertainty and the enthusiasm all of you share for the GF has swayed me to change my plans. It also didn't hurt that we were able to take advantage of the summer discount offered today... We'll be spending 10 days in July at the GF (Lagoon View) and I welcome any suggestions you guys might have. Thanks in advance!

Ten nights at the GF...:cloud9: Lucky you!! I think that Boca Chica is a great outer lodge for a LV room....

Oh no!!!! I just had them in January! Guess I am glad I caught them before they were gone!

My girl home from college and her 19th birthday so yep, had a great weekend!

Try to keep warm NE ers! It will eventually be spring.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... When we asked the lounge ladies told me that they are not serving them any longer... :cake: Happy Birthday to your DD...that is a nice way to spend the weekend..

I am quite annoyed that they have removed the sticky buns from the lounge menu!! Those and the trifle are two of my favorite lounge items, along with the coffee machine!

Well they still have the trifle...!:thumbsup2 Another of our faves too...lol on the coffee machine...You know I love the coffee too...:coffee: You and I and Maxie could have our own coffee club..

Hey all! I have the pleasure of staying at GF this year, which is our second visit to WDW. Our first stay was at the Poly and my kids ( 3 and 7 yrs old) loved the Poly, but with all the renov we decided to stay at GF for the week of Thanksgiving this year. I was lucky enough to book a Standard Deluxe room in the RPC. I think there's only like 4 or 6 of those rooms. Any particular room number I should ask for? Hoping to be closer to the lounge. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

~ Gina

The Standard Deluxe room closest to the lounge (which is located on the forth floor) is 4420..with 4419 being the next closest...but even if you are on the third floor 4320 its just a quick walk up an interior staircase (k&a&c'smom has posted pics of this... up to the lounge..HTH..And congrats on booking the GF!

Good Evening

....Oh no on the pecan sticky buns, you know my mother loves them she will be crushed to learn they're not being served anymore.Ugh no strawberries either, but I can see why they're not, I personally saw a woman take the plate of them when she knew others were waiting for one..Oh that cake sounds delish

Yup..no more sticky buns...:sad2: or strawberries...but they have replaced them with some other delicious treats!:goodvibes As far as the strawberry hog..lol..you know there are always one of "those" peeps..thinking that the offerings are there for just them...the cake was yummy!

I love the Grand it's just so Grand!

:wave2: Hey Candy..I agree....

Good morning friends! I am trying to get caught up here. TA got back to me yesterday about discount. Unfortunately, SL is not part of the summer discount. Oh well, we are going anyway!

Still no news from DS top college pick. Maybe some pixie dust will be sprinkled today!

Have a Grand Day!

Hi MommyGina..Sorry that there aren't any discounts available in your room category..maybe something will turn up though...Sending good thoughts your way ..especially for your DS :wizard:...waiting is no fun!

Very excited to stay RPC with our entire family this summer. We recently added time and will be there for 8 days instead of 5 We will be staying in a deluxe queen room for the first time. I think the extra space will be nice :)

:thumbsup2 Congrats! The deluxe queen rooms do have a great bit of extra space!

is any of the Grand Floridian room views affected by the DVC construction at the Poly? Or can you hear noises from the construction, for example while relaxing at the pool?

We did spend some pool time during our last visit..but heard nothing...:confused3 Don't think its close enough to be a problem...

I have changed from SV to SV CL...but still at YC :thumbsup2 I told my TA to lock my reservation, and it helps going through a TA because she has talked me out of a few changes..I really am trying to take everyone in the family's wants into consideration.

I will always be a Grand girl through and through What are the chances YC CL will overbook and they will walk us to RPC..that would rock It's only fair.....since RPC walked us...:duck:

Pas Glad that by using a TA you are more resistant to RCing...although I do enjoy hearing about the changes..lol...:moped: Heres hoping to some YC CL overbooking..lol...:drinking1

Just remember...

with Orbitz... if you have a problem with the reservation... even if you are standing at check in... you have to deal with Orbitz directly to take care of it. And if you are going through the UK version of Orbitz for a deal... you will be calling the UK to deal with it...

Geat info..thanks for the heads up! :thumbsup2

Ummm...GF!! Look who you are asking!!! ;)

Lisann This is always a such nice place to "hang out"...lol..Love the lunch bag...I have that tea cup too...but mine is a coffee cup! :)

MickeyNut I am trying for a super multi quote today!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????? LOL..Probably over on my smilies though...:rolleyes1..and I am a bit confused....everything is sort of blurring together..lol...!!!

k&a&c'smom Thanks for trying to add the CL menu offerings...:thumbsup2 And for taking the time to walk us through the Orbitz offer...:goodvibes I like the idea of leaving the kids off..does that mean we get to leave them home too...LOL...JK..having older "kids" I am actually grateful..as I know you are when they get to come along on a Disney trip! Are you here posting..or editing!!! I think I might be the edit queen...:upsidedow

Grace&Carolinesmom :thumbsup2 WTG on getting that discount!

~ My thoughts on the Poly construction...I know this is the GF thread..lol..but so many folks are booking the GF due to the construction there...FWIW..there was quite a bit of construction going on at the GF during the past two years..between the VGF..renovations at Gasparillas..Sandy Cove..and the courtyard pool...which is really right in the middle of it all..there were walls everywhere..in both pool areas...the lobby..lots of relocation due to the refurbishments.. Stayed there during all phases of construction...and..I really didn't think that it impacted my stay very much...there was still so much to enjoy..my lovely room..the overall "feel" of my favorite resort...Now I am not trying to send anyone back to the Poly..I am thinking you are all in for a treat! But...just wanted to share my "construction" experience...

Hope that all of my fellow GF fans are having a wonderful Wednesday..:flower3:

I just changed our reservation from SL to RPC! With this being our first stay at the GF, I really wanted to be right smack dab in the middle of things! Ha!

Of course now I have to change my room requests. Since the lounge is on the 4th floor, that's the floor I'd like to be on. We're in a Standard Room. Does anyone know which Standard rooms are closest to the lounge? (Or can anyone tell me where to look to find a map with room types and numbers on it?)
I know I'd like a pool view.

Are the coffee makers in the rooms still Cuisinart brand? I love my coffee, and just wondering if anyone knows if they'll be changed with the refurbs.

I'm really, really excited about our stay!!!

Congrats! You're going to love RPC :cloud9:. The atmosphere can't be beat anywhere else.

As far as room location goes, the 4th floor is great, but to be honest I don't think any floor is bad. We have stayed on all three floors. Believe it or not, we actually LOVED the 5th floor the best. It really worked great for us. We felt like we had the entire floor to ourselves. No matter where you are, you will have a GRAND time :thumbsup2!

I'm sure they'd love to have you in RPC :goodvibes.

You do a great job of multi-quoting :thumbsup2.

I agree about construction. As you know, the Poly is my favorite resort (with the GF running a close second ;)) and construction wouldn't keep me from staying there. I think Disney does a great job of making sure it doesn't interfere with guests enjoyment of the resort ::yes::.

I agree....any floor/room in RPC is wonderful :cloud9:.

How long of a walk is it from Conch Key to the monorail? To the buses? Touring Plans doesn't seem to have it listed...

we have never stayed in that building but isn't it down by narcoosee? sorry if i'm wrong. we've walked between narcoosee or boat dock and the main building a lot and its not a long walk. 2 minutes maybe?

How full is the monorail in the mornings since the Grand is the last stop before MK? (In the summer) Seats left or mainly standing room only?

Do the GF buses share with the other deluxe resorts when going to the other parks?

This may have already been asked, and if so I apologize! We booked a 4 night stay in August at the GF. We are traveling with myself, DH, DD 6 (turning 6 on vacation), DD 4, and DS 1. We were thinking about upgrading to CL but just want to make sure that the resort is kid-friendly...... I know it's disney, but just want to make sure! :)

I'm curious about this too. Did you switch Koh1977? We switched from CR Garden Wing to the GF last week! So excited!

From our experience, I'd say no worries there. My kids have been staying at RCP since they were in a stroller and they absolutely love it there. The staff has been great with them. They will be 6 and 13 and they look forward to the GF every August. They even look forward to seeing the familiar faces that work there.

It's just a few minutes. The GF isn't that spread out, so it doesn't take long to get to the main building from any of the outer buildings :).

No worries......the GF is very kid friendly :goodvibes.

You will love the GF :wizard:.

Is the GF good with kids? Or is it mor of a hotel for adults?

The GF is a great place for kids :thumbsup2.

Maybe Sago Cay? Do all of the buildings have garden view rooms? (Obviously not talking about Sugarloaf and Main building) :confused3

See you at the pool??? :rotfl:

Now we are not doing CL though, so I need to find a good building....any suggestions??? Conch Key looks good....

I'll definitely be at the pool sipping on something fruity for sure. I ended up requesting Boca Chica...we want to be somewhat closer to the pools and after seeing some of the GV room views, I'll be crossing my fingers :)
