I leave 2 weeks from Wednesday, we have not yet received our DME luggage tags. I'm not so worried about them getting our luggage (last time we used DME it took FOREVER to get our luggage, so I'm considering just picking them up and loading them on the bus ourselves...), but I am worried about not having a seat on the bus. When should I call Disney?

I would give them a call because you'll certainly want to confirm that they have your reservation and you'll want your booklet.
When we went in October we just showed the booket to the CM standing near the counter and we went right to the lines for the bus. IT sure saved a lot of time.
I leave Nov 30th and had not gotten my packet, so I called the other day. They had my first reservation which I cancelled because I am now coming in a day earlier, they did not have my new reservation.

I got mine right at the 5 week mark, just as usual. I would call and double check just to be sure they have you in the system.

If you booked with Disney directly, you should be able to see if they have your arrival/departure information under "ground transportation". If it's there, I wouldn't worry, though it can't hurt to give them a call.

We flew down last weekend without our ME documentation. I called at two weeks - everything was fine on the reservation, just hadn't sent it yet (so they said). I called three days before and they realized they never sent the packet because they (ME) had a date wrong.

We took our Southwest claim checks to the ME desk and ME took care of the luggage just as if we had the yellow tags. They also printed our "tickets" for the bus. Line time was 5 minutes - tops. When we got into the bus line, it already was quite long so obviously we had not just missed it.

Can't tell you when the bags arrived. We were out of the room for about 6 hours after check in. They were there when we returned.

So don't worry, as long as your disney confirmation has the right info you will be fine.

Just returned from a week with Mickey. We only booked the trip at the beginning of October, including DME as part of the reservations from the start. No DME packet came in the mail. Before we departed for the trip, I was reassured by ME staff that we could check our own bags at home airport and bring claim tix to ME desk upon arriving at MCO and they could still get our bags for us. Being that we were landing early evening and did not wish to be without luggage with 4 tired kiddos in tow, we decided to collect our own bags and report to ME desk. They had our reservation on file and printed boarding vouchers for us and we were on our way quite quickly on the bus.

Yesterday in our room, we received our DME departure time notice, which ended up being our boarding tickets for DME for transportation back to the airport. (We had to check our own bags on the way home, since we fly SWA and they do not yet participate in resort checkin.).

Warning though about DME pickups....Be certain their choice of time to pick you up will truly afford you ample time for getting through the airport. We were scheduled for pickup at the 3-hour mark prior to our flight departure. DME bus arrival occurred then, but we did not pull out of our resort until 1/2 hour later, then were told by the driver that he had FIVE more resort stops to make!!! :scared1::scared1: In the end, we arrived with 1 1/2 hours to spare and luckily breezed right through checkin and security...SWA flight left early and got us home safe and sound ahead of schedule.

Will probably use DME for inbound next time, but have decided to pay for a private car service for our departure...Not interested in repeating the last minute stressful time crunch like today again. We felt very out of control of our plans once we were on that bus...:confused3:)

Thank you for this post. I was looking to see when I should expect them. We are set to fly into Orlando on January 6th and haven't received our DME info yet.

5 weeks out is this week.. so I guess if we don't get them by the end of the week, I'll have to give them a jingle. :goodvibes

Save your money. While your experience was highly unusual (both the timing and the number of pickups), you can always request an earlier pickup time.

Over the years, I have learned that if I don't get the tags by the one-month mark, I should call them to confirm. Most of the time, they've arrived before then, but once or twice there was a glitch. I was glad I "goosed" them. :thumbsup2

We are 3 weeks out and still no tags. I called last week and they told me they have not received our information from our reservation yet. The CM took all the info and manually entered it. She said we would receive it within a week. So far nothing.

Was your reservation made thru WDW or a travel agent? If a TA sometimes that can make it harder for you to check on it (or maybe that's only for actual hotel ressies) as the TA agency 'owns' the reservation up to a certain time?

Don't know about the others, but my reservation was made direct thru WDW.

Then I have to admit, I'd be on the phone again with them until I was sure all my info was in there!!!

We leave on Friday and no tags from DME. We did receive our vouchers for the return trip but we are doing a split stay so that is a different resort/reservation. When I called at the 3 week point the CM verified that everything was in the system so we just will have to go to the desk. Since we are arriving later in the evening we plan on just collecting our own bags. Hopefully there isn't any problems!
