If so, what was the experience like?

If you considered it and opted not to allow them, I'd appreciate knowing your reasons if they were other than for time constraints.

Thanks.

I know it runs every Monday and Wednesday from 8P-12A and has a $12 cover charge (first coke free).

I have no first hand as my kids arent old enough yet but the posts Ive read have been positive.

My 15 year old son went to the teen night at the Groove. DH and I are very protective and at first I wasn't sure, but DS really wanted to go. But I was surprised to see a bouncer frisking all the boys as they went in! Oh well, it's the day and age we live in.:(
DH had a good time, got his free coke, made some small talk with other kids, and then we met him at I think it was 11 PM right outside the Groove.
I would feel comfortable letting him go again if he wants to, when we're there in a few weeks.

My 16 year old daughter and friend loved it. They said there was plenty of security. We gave her a cell phone in the event she needed to contact us and my husband picked the girls up at 11. My daughter went on a Friday night and it cost $15(first soda was free).

My DS is 13, will be 14 when we go to US in July. Is the crowd mixed ages or mostly older teenagers?

I'd be careful. If you're abe to go inside and scope out the joint first, I'd recomend it.

I attended many a teen night at different clubs back in high school, and while there was always a lot of pop music and soda, there was also a lot of suggestive dancing (i.e. grinding). There was always security and checking of the IDs and even "chaperon" type people walking around, but they mostly only stopped the most extreme cases (i.e. "dry humping").

Now, I'm not saying your kids are the type to partake, as there were always also kids who just acted and danced like you'd expect kids to.

I've never been to teen night at the Groove, as I assume I'm too old for that now, but I'm just letting you know from my experiences, as your kids may not always be so forthcoming.

My 15yo DD and a friend attended teen night during Spring break.
They had a good time but did comment on the suggestive dancing. My daughter had a cell phone so she could call me if any problem arose but they stayed until the dance was over. They plan on attending when we go in July so I guess they had a good time.

Thanks so much for the insights. I guess I will have to give them a cellie if I allow them to attend.
