For those who know what I am referring to, have you booked your cruise yet? IF so, did you chance another "hurricane season" cruise?!

Just curious!

Yep, we are chancing another hurricane cruise with our 25% off voucher. We "earned" it on the Sept 25, 2004 (ended up being the Sept 27) sailing of the Magic. We rebooked for the Sept 25, 2005 sailing of the Wonder. Figured a hurricane couldn't come on the same day two years in a row, right? We will buy trip insurance, as usual, just in case :teeth:

We're trying, but are having difficulty getting DCL to credit us--vouchers were mailed on 11/1, but I didn't get revised rate until last night and it seems high. Does anyone know what the port charges and taxes are for a 3 night--does $137.50 seem correct for that? We are trying to go in April, not because of hurricane season, but because of the school calendar.

We booked for the September 17th cruise next year! I had the same theory that it couldn't happen to us twice. I also have some great stories about driving around Florida with my three kids and the grandparents(that's 7 people) in a minivan with 11 suitcases, afterall why get a full size van when we were just going to use it for the 45 minute drive to the port! After all was said and done and the insurance check kicked back a few bucks, we must say it was fun! At least next time we know what we can and can't do as far as insurance is concerned.

So the answer is YES YES YES....we could have waited until January and cruised for the same kind of rates but that would be way too safe (and I could not wait that long). :grouphug:

We have been trying for the past 5 weeks to get our 50% off voucher worked out with DCL for our upcoming cruise in 3 weeks. So far we have gotten about $250 of the $600 we are suppose to get.

The charges for our 4 night cruise were $99/person and the taxes were about $28. You take that off the total amount (our December cruise for 4 is costing about $1700). Once everything is subtracted, THEN they do the 50% off. We are getting $600 off our $1700 cruise.

I was expecting more (I didn't realize about the charges not included in the % off). Now they are giving us our discount back (I had already paid in full for this cruise) a bit at a time. I have to keep contacting my TA and ask her to nag them. They had said I should get the rest last week, but I didn't, so I am going to contact my TA on Tuesday if it doesn't show up by then.

I am hoping to have it all settled before we leave (but we will see). Good Luck to all of you!

How did you get a 50% off voucher? Inquiring minds want to know! :D

DCL gave 50% off next cruise vouchers to those of us on the Sept. 18th seven night Eastern cruise. Hurricane Jeanne was coming, and for 2 days most of the ship was sick as we tried to hurry back to PC before they closed the port. We had to get off of the ship on Friday night.

We didn't get any onboard credits or refunds on this cruise, just the discount on a future cruise (and most of the people in our party of 14 won't be using it, I am guessing a lot of people won't be, if we hadn't been planning this Dec. cruise already, we wouldn't have used ours either).

I think the voucher was very nice, but it sounded a lot better than what it was when we were onboard. Oh well! We are (eventually) getting $600 back on a cruise we were going to take anyway, so it worked for us!

Booked for January this time. :fish:

Haven't done ours yet, but considering Hurricane Season again!! Orginally scheduled during Frances, moved to Jeanne, wound up cancelling all together. Like they say, third time is a charm!!!

Booked ours for March 2005....we personally rec'd the voucher not our TA so there was a little drama about that b/c when we rebooked and she told them we had it but she would send a copy they were arguing w/ her "why do they have the voucher" "we need the original we can not process it without it"

Our TA was pretty pissed w/ DCL...they wanted me to send the originals to a P.O. Box and they were like if it gets lost they can not do anything about it.... TA was like no way she got a physical address and I sent them via UPS.

But as far as using it that was no problem!

We were scheduled on the 9/4!
Good luck!!!

Same here but Disney has said they haven't received it form me yet. I sent it out right away. I leave for the cruise in three weeks. My TA is dealing with it, so glad I used one. I was also sceduled on 9/04.
I just can't understand why they need that letter in hand. It's in my name and no one else can use it so why not just look up my original reservation. I'm glad I made a copy! :boat:

Booked for april 9, 2005 thru disney and was told to fax coupons to disney. Haven't received any confirmation in mail yet. I am sure I will need to mail the actual certificates with final payment. It sure seems that that they are making this difficult.

It would be just as simple to place a note in your file regarding the 50% off, but the possibility of "losing the vouchers" makes it more in THEIR favor. At least that's my opinion.

My problem was getting the TA to send the vouchers to me directly. I didn't want to rebook using them as they wanted me to!!

My TA specifically made me send it via UPS so I would have a confirmation and the morning it got their she called them. My TA said she actually spoke to her DCL rep and the manager when she booked and they were so uncooperative. I am so happy we went w/ a TA we are getting our monies worth. I am not sure why they are being so difficult b/c they are really turning their customers off. I think they want to save a couple of bucks b/c if you don't have the original you are SOL.

Good luck to you and I hope you get this resolved before you leave!
