We are waiting for the bid for our move and I can't for the life of me remember how much our last move cost. It is an instate move about 150 miles. How much was your move?

I used one for a local move (about 25 miles). We packed everything, and they just loaded, moved, and unloaded it. It was a 4 bedroom house w/ 2 car garage (no basement), in the Southern Maryland area. As I recall, we were quoted $2000 for that. We also paid an extra $150 to have the furniture disassembled/re-assembled. It turned out to be a pretty big fiasco, where they severely underestimated. They had 3 guys, a 26' truck and a cargo van. They had estimated most of the day. It ended up taking all that day, then the next morning because they couldn't fit it all into their vehicles, and the van broke down on the way back to the house.

:confused3 :rotfl2: kinda like that "Moving" video with Richard Pryor in it.......... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: we always watch that before we move, we moved our self last time, this next time were hoping the Co. will be picking up the tab, they will also buy our house within 6 mos. if it doesn't sell ! good luck.

Have you considered using PODS? They will bring you as many as you need. They are 10x 16 storage cubes that will be delivered to your home 1 at a time. You fill the POD and they come back and retrieve it and leave you another POD to fill. They take your filled POD back to the local warehouse until you have filled 3 or however many you needed.

Then when you get to where you are moving to, they will then re-deliver the PODS to you to unload. It is so easy and you don't have to worry about driving a UHAUL and the headaches that go along with that.

Each POD cube will hold the size of a 1500 foot home. (approx) You can add extra PODs if you run out of space.

Their customer service was very helpful as well. :)

I have heard about this but I am NOT packing and moving ourselves. DH's company is paying for the move, I just can't remember how much it costs and they want a ballpark figure. Our quote should be coming in the next few days but I am just wondering.

I hate that we have to go to a storage and apartment for the summer while we sell our house...that means we have to move twice!

We hired movers for a local move (about 2 miles) recently. We packed everything. The movers took apart and reassembled bunk beds and anything else that needed assembling and they loaded and unloaded everything. We were quoted a price of $175 per hour for 5 men. They worked their butts off and never slacked. It took 8 hours to move our 3400 sp ft. house. plus all the contents of the garage and storage space in the basement. It was worth every penny we spent.
