We usually stay at the Starr Crest Resort (now called Dollywood Vacations) when we vacation in Pigeon Forge. We love the cabins, however, there is no way to exercise at the resort. There aren't any trails on the property or even a small exercise room. The resorts' elevation and winding, steep roads preclude even walking on the roads (unless you have a death wish).

I notice that the Oak Haven Resorts' cabins have very similar amenities to Starr Crest (hot tub, game room, etc...) with the added bonus of walking/jogging trails. Oak Haven doesn't have online booking though and their prices for spring break (non-peak time) aren't listed, you have to call them.

Would love to read opinions of this resort from fellow DISers! TIA.

I have not stayed there personally, but my boss and her family stayed there a few years ago. They were very happy with the Oak Haven Resort.

Why are you on the Disboards asking this? These are not the Dollyboards. Have you ever heard of Trip Advisor? Gawd!!!!

It was slipping to the bottom of the page again...just bumping it back up for you and helping to increase your view count.

You Welcome

Sorry I can't answer your questions about the Oak Haven Resort, but I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the Starr Crest Resort cabins, we are staying in one over Easter. I'd love to hear anything you have to say about them.

I hope you can have your questions answered about the other resort...

We love Starr Crest, but as I mentioned, there is no place to exercise. There is a playground, but at 5'10", there is only so much use I can get out of it!

You'll love Starr Crest cabins. We stay in the 1-bedroom and DD11 sleeps upstairs in the huge king bed. There is also a game room, and a full bath with a jacuzzi tub, a TV mounted on the wall near the bed and access to the balcony where the hot tub is. A computer/printer/desk is also upstairs with free WiFi throughout the cabin.

Downstairs is the kitchen, access to the first balcony, DR, LR with flat screen and gas fireplace and MB with a very small bathroom compared with upstairs, but there is a door to the bedroom which the upstairs doesn't have (it's a loft-style).

Everything you could possible want/need is in the "ultra" cabin (as they used to call it) and you can even hear the sound of the train whistle from DW. You probably already have seen their website which shows many photos of every cabin.

The two main differences I see between Starr Crest and Oak Haven are the trails, the spa and daily housekeeping. Oak Haven doesn't put their daily rates online, just a rate range, so I really can't compare that accurately. When we stayed last April at SC, I received 30% off the first 3 nights and 50% off the 4th. It was a great deal that I'm not sure OH can match until I call them.

Thank you so much for the information, WDWKOOK! I really appreciate your response. The cabins sound really great, I can't wait! :yay:

You're welcome and feel free to ask more questions if you have any. And thanks for bumping this back-up where someone who has actually stayed at Oak Haven might see it!
