Has anybody ever seen Aligators in the lakes around any Disney Property?

I personally have not seen any alligators on the Disney property, but it is Florida, and it is a safe bet that they are there. I would not go in or to near any lake or pond and assume they are not there just because you don't see them. They often hide in the underbrush along the edge of fresh waterways and are easily disguised. My mother lives in South Carolina on Hilton Head Island and they are all over the place!

Yes, once at BCV and once a long time ago at OKW.

August 2009 at the BCV -- canal
October 2009 at the BWV/Standard view -- pond

Those are my recent sightings. I've also seen one in the water at CSR and the pond at the WL (standard rooms -- not villa)

Saw one two weeks ago on the golf course near the GF (can't remember the name of the course). He was sitting there smiling at us.

We also see them often in the water area on the roadways around Disney.

Saw on while on the Riverboat in the MK, right near the dock, about a 4 footer, saw 3 while at SOG quite a few years ago.

In March at BWV, it was about 3.5 ft. long in the standard view pond. Also saw one in the riverboat canal at the MK. At first, I thought that one was a prop, it was at least 5 ft. long, but no, it was real.

We saw one years ago sunning himself lakefront at the Caribbean Beach Resort. The bus driver had to assure folks that he was real, not an audio animatronic, lol.

A couple of years back we were driving our rental car on the airport access road heading toward WDW when an enormous gator charged out from the side of the road and crossed all 4 lanes rapidly. The car in front of us darn near went off the road, and I darn near had a heart attack, lol.

It is a safe bet that any body of water in Florida will have alligator(s) in it.

About 4 years ago swimming in the canal in the front of the BC. He was a baby, maybe 2-3 feet long.

Years ago we saw one near the boat dock at MGM. he was small...maybe 1-2 feet long.

My understanding is that if there is an alligator spotting in a more viisble body of WDW water, they move the gator to a less visible body of water on property.

In other words, they try to keep the live gators and the people as far from each other as possible!

I've seen the one at BCV many times. Also seen the one at the MK in the water surrounding Tom Sawyer Island.

Regularly on the golf courses.

Outside the golf courses, the only place I've ever seen one was in Animal Kingdom, in the water under the bridge going from Discovery Island into Dinloand.

I've heard the remark that in central Florida every puddle has a gator in it. I wouldn't worry about it, just take care to stay out their way.:earsboy:

Not an alligator, but in the room at OKW there was a flyer that stated a Florida Black Bear was spotted near OKW earlier this month.

In January we had a bus driver that liked to point out all the gators along the route from CR to AK.

we have some pictures of the one from the BCV, taken in 2003 I think. He was pretty big, and seemed happy to swim along with the large turtles in the canal.

Now that would be something! But a little scary, too! Alligators don't bother us since we see them at home, but if I saw a bear around OKW, that would be rather exciting.

I saw one last October at AK. It was in the water right by our table in the lowest covered area at Flame Tree Barbeque. It was probably about 4 ft long.
