I just got back from WDW last night and I was telling my wife my story of my star encounter when I was in 7th grade......

It was 20+ years ago and I don't remember the ride but my grandmother took my sister and I too WDW and we were in line on a ride and in the line right in front of us was John Boy from the Waltons (no idea on his real name). My grandmother was a big fan of the Waltons and asked if he'd sign her Disney program and he said No. Told her he was there with his family and if he started signing autographs it would never stop. She was livid and started talkign to me and my sister about how rude it was. I was embarrassed about it at the time.......

Who have you met at WDW?

Your grandmother's encounter with Richard Thomas reminds me of the infamous scene in Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy (1983) in which a fan walked up to a famous talk show host on the street (played by Jerry Lewis) and asked him to talk to one of her relatives on the phone... because they were such great fans of his.

When Lewis' character politely declined, the "fan" suddenly turned hostile and flew into a wild rage... telling him he, "should get cancer!"

This scene was based on something that actually DID happen to Mr. Lewis, personally.

Ah, the good life of being "famous."

:scared1:

I just love john boy from the waltons! And his real name is Richard Thomas.

Dh had Steven Tyler from Aerosmith butt in line at a snack cart in Adventureland in Nov. 06. Dh was about to order some galzed nuts when a voice behind him piped in and said - "got any cotton candy" - dh turned around to see who was in such a hurry that he couldn't wait his turn. He said his jaw hit the ground.

We met Lawrence Taylor (NY Giants), Bam Bam Bigelow and Lex Luger (Both formerly of the WWE Wrestling). Out of all three of these men Bam Bam was the nicest down to earth person you would ever want to meet (may he rest in peace). We chatted with him and his family for a good 2 hours. LT was not a very nice person but his family was fabulous. His wife and children were just super people. We did not personally meet Lex Luger but we did speak to his wife and asked if it was ok for us to take pictures with him and very nicely she asked if we wouldn't as they really don't get a lot of family time together. We did not have a problem with that. Met Regis and Kelly. Regis was very nice, Kelly was a little standoffish. Maybe she was having a bad day. Very pretty lady though and in fantastic shape. Saw Clay Akin but that was it.

About 3 years ago, My wife and kids met Raven Simone. She was there filming for the Disney Christmas Day special. Last year while waiting at the end of ToT for my kids, I noticed the star of Cory in the House, Kyle Massey (?). My wife took some pictures of him. He signed autographs and took pictures with alot of people before heading through some back doors.

Back in 1998 my mom and my aunt saw Bobby Burgess from the original Mickey Mouse club standing in line at the one eating place in AK. He was there with his family. Before they could say anything to him, a CM came over and said, "Mr. Burgess, if you would like, we have a private eating area for you and your family to ensure your privacy while eating." so they left with the CM. I thought that was cool they have private eating places so the stars dont get mobbed while eating.

That same trip I saw Al Roker in the airport, but my aunt says it was just another fat guy, but I swear to the day I die it was Al Roker!!

Aside from the parade filming, we saw Joey Fatone with his family going to the back door of HM as we were coming off - I walked right past him and just thought he was some guy who was obscenely taller than me (I was concentrating on a straight path to the batroom :rolleyes1 ) and it was my BFF who came up to me and said, "OMG that was Joey Fatone!!!" I made it to the bathroom (:yay: ) and then we waited right by the little HM cart and not too long after he came out and we snapped a few pics, but did it discreetly b/c we didn't want to bother his family time.

Donny Osmand (sp? mum recognized him) was at the Nemo show Jan 2nd 07.

I was talking to a friendly toddler in a stroller and started chatting with his dad about toddlers and Disney World. When he was done and it was my turn, the girl at the counter asked if I knew who he was. She was about ready to jump out of her skin. He was in some band I never heard of, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it.

So I guess I met someone famous to young girls.

Richard Thomas I would recognize, although his kids are probably about the age that they're taking their kids. Sometimes the DIS makes me feel old.

I saw Anthony Edwards (Dr Greene from ER) and his family on the boat between Epcot & the Boardwalk a few years ago. They were sitting in the row in front of me. I was sure it was him but didn't say anything, when I got home I did an internet search and found pictures of his family and it was them.

I've seen people who were there for an appearance - Regis & Kelly, Marie Osmond, Bruce Jenner & Olympic Stars (Millionaire Taping 2001), numerous from Candlelight Processional.

When I was there in Dec. I saw Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser) at the AKL pool. My 6 yr old ds and I were playing in the pool and going down the slide. There were three guys sitting in chairs near us. The only reason I noticed is because they had VERY fit bodies (shhhhhhhh don't tell dh I noticed:rotfl: ). They all got up and went down the slide. When NPH came down....I was like..........HEY.........that is Doogie Howser!! They were just laughing and talking about how cute all the kids were that were coming down the slide. I didn't approach him because I didn't want to bother him on his vacation. I think the night before that he was the narrator at the CP. After that the three dried off and left.

It wasn't in WDW, but it was during our trip there in 1982. We were actually at Wet N Wild, and we met Louis Gossett Jr and his son, he was was taking a break from filming Jaws 3.

This thread is a better fit here on our Community Board.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

we were getting on our airplane leaving disney world when we saw amy grant and vince gill behind us. they were very kind and give our babysitter their autograph.

We were there the week of March 9-16. We saw Jenny McCarthy at AKL(w/her son and what appeared to be body guards) we verified it was her w/the CM.
Then the same week my husband saw Donny Osmond at Hollywood Studios!

Last June, while in the MK, my family & I were eating in the upstairs of Columbia Harbor House Restaurant. My DGD need to go to the restroom. I was elected as I had finished eating. In the women's restroom, we ran into Celine Dion w/her DS & a Disney lady (who could run interference). Celine's son said, to his mom, that my DGD looked like a friend of his & she said that they did look similar.

When my DGD finished, we returned to our table & I told the family that we had seen Celine in the restroom. My DD had to get up & find her in the upstairs. There was a roped off section for the Celine, her family, & all the other w/them.

Hope
