Have you received the gift card from the phone tour?

I have referred four people for the phone tour. I thought it said that we would both receive a $25.00 gift card in three weeks. It has been longer and I am wondering how long it took others to receive theirs.

Sadly, even though we received the promotion mailing and referred people, we have now found out that we don't get any gift cards because we live in Texas. We contacted DVD and we were told that we received the promotion mailing in error. :sad2:

I would be so mad if that happened to me! I would have thought they would have offered you something for your effort and time. Were the people you referred also in Texas?

Many states are excluded and/or have restrictions. Below is a quote taken from a post on this board, which is quoting the DVC Member Website restrictions on the member Sharing the Magic Program. This may or may not include the phone tour cards, but I am willing to bet that it does:

The MS site lists the eligible jurisdictions.

Quote:
"Eligible Jurisdiction" is any jurisdiction that permits rewarding Members for their participation in the Program. Current Eligible Jurisdictions are: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. DVD reserves the right to add or remove Eligible Jurisdictions as business and legal circumstances allow.

.

Then there are more restrictions for a few states:

Quote:
Members in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Ohio, and New Jersey: Due to jurisdiction regulations, Members who reside in Arizona may only redeem Rewards from this Program, or any other similar program offered by DVD, with a maximum yearly payout of $600 during a calendar year. Due to jurisdiction regulations, Members who reside in Illinois and Ohio may only redeem Rewards from this Program, or any other similar program offered by DVD, with a maximum yearly payout of $1,000 during a calendar year. For Introducing Members who reside in New Jersey, the total number of potential Introduced Guests under this Program, or any other similar program offered by DVD, is limited to 12 total Introduced Guests per calendar year. Certain Rewards are not available in New Jersey and Connecticut due to applicable jurisdiction law. Other Rewards available to Introducing Members also may be limited by applicable jurisdiction law.

I am in Ohio so it sounds like I should have no problem. I just wonder how far behind they are.

Blame your state government, Not DVD. The states imposed the restrictions, DVD is just following the laws.

Since we received the mailed promotional material we thought that the phone promotion was under the State maximum and that we qualified. According to the State of Texas we are limited to a $50 gift.

Disney says no, we should not have received the promotional material and that they don't intend to include Texas. Doesn't seem correct, but that was Disney's answer.

Probably just easier for Disney to follow an "all or none" policy than try to keep track of the various levels of state "protection".

We in Minnesota have also been "protected" from the evil timeshare sales companies and their "kickback schemes". :rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I tried to do this and my mom called DVC and spoke to one person, but then MY guide never called her back so they weren't able to finish the phone "tour". Oh well. Doubt we'll get any cards, but IF we do it would be a plesant surprise indeed!

no..havent recieved anything...I know that my two of my sisters did take the tour...but neither have received a card...one of my sisters was hoping the card would come early enough so she could use it at the Disney Store for a costume.

My Mom did it also and has called my guide several times, but she hasn't heard back yet. However, my MIL also called and did the tour, so I am waiting on those cards. It's been about 2 weeks for that, I think. I'm getting MIL's cards as well, so that'll be $50 for my May trip.

I received a $25 gift card today via Fed Ex (signature required).

I was really surprised that it came via Fed Ex -- the freight charges must be almost as high as the value of the gift card! Can you imagine how much it will cost if they send every gift card out that way? :scared1:

I have not got mine yet and neither has my mom...they did say it would come fed ex though.I am surprised it is not here yet because they said they mailed it last monday!

I just recieved a card from FEDex...also shocked becuase why would they come FEDEX???

when the AP referal cards went out they used regular mail and came in white envelopes...

Im not sure how much it cost to ship but it does say 2 day mailing on the sticker...although it was mailed on the 23rd so give or take a two days for the weekend...

(on another note...I cant tell how much is on the card...it is only one card...anyhow off to pay for a part of my Disney Cruise)

update the card has $25

Got mine today too!!!

Can't wait to use it on my Dec trip!!!

Aghhhh! I missed the fed ex guy today! He left a sticker on the door and I have been wondering all day what I have ordered. I will stay at home and wait him out tomorrow!

Just a guess, but I think DVC must have a highly discounted contract with FedEx since the majority of their paperwork and other semi-dimensional items come that way. Since APs come from a different area of Disney, they might not have the same shipping department resources... :confused3
