Have you looked at the Itunes top 100 songs lately?

It is full of Michael Jackson's songs! I can't believe how many are on the top 100. I would guess at least half are of Michael Jackson or the Jackson 5! Wow! I also heard someone cruisin to Billie Jean today.

I heard this on the new last night--that most of Michael Jackson's music had "topped" on Itunes yesterday.

Today I was in the mall and many of the stores that play loud music were playing MJ. Also, there was a "model search" going on and they were playing all MJ music on the "catwalk."

I can believe it. Many younger people who only knew MJ as the weird, plastic surgery obsessed baby dangler are now checking out his music. While I am not a huge fan, I did go on YouTube last night and show my 10 year old DD some classic videos- Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, etc- so she could "get" why there was so much coverage of his death. She didn't realize it even was the same Michael from seeing his post-surgeries face compared to the (realtively) unaltered MJ of the early 80's.

I don't currently own any MJ music, but I might download some now- Off the Wall and Thriller, probably.

My 17 year old - just a couple of years ago - didn't believe the MJ was a black man. I showed her then pictures of him when he was younger.

Today, she & I watched the video linked at top of the boards here to Captain EO. DH saw it in DL when MJ was at his height - I remember the huge lines and what a big deal it was then.

Anyone else remember that attraction at the parks?

I made my 14 y.o. do that as well. She now gets it, and downloaded 3 albums, and a couple dozen extra songs from the Jackson 5, MJ, and Janet.

It was wonderful at work yesterday. Every radio in the facility I work in had the same station on, and MJ could be heard everywhere. The residents have a karaoke party on Fridays, and it was all MJ as well. It is so easy to forget just how many wonderful songs he had, and nice to remember them.

My DS is 6 and LOVES MJ. DH and DS actually started listening to the few MJ songs DH had on is iPod a few months ago. DS requests them all of the time. I gave DS my old iPod and the majority of the music is Jonas Brothers and MJ. After MJ's death, DH bought the Essentials albums from iTunes, so DS has been listening to all of those nonstop. It's actually pretty funny.

I don't think DS ever saw MJ before his death other than the little album cover that pops up on the iPod. He's too young to know about "creepy" MJ.

Your son is possibly the coolest kid ever! :thumbsup2 I love MJ! I've been jamming to his music for years. I remember being one of the only students in an art class who could sing almost all the songs on his number ones cd in high school!

Off topic...Skuttle your Boston pups in your sig are soooooo cute!

LOL! Thanks! I'm not sure DS even realizes that MJ's music hasn't been on the radio in years. He loves Don't Blame the Boogie, the "zombie" song (Thriller), and Shake Your Body Down to the Ground. He dances around (actually asked me to pick up the dogs so that he could dance) and sings into his fist. I really need to video it.

The pic of you and your Boston is super cute! I need to change my picture. The pups are now about 5 months old so they look different now. They have been wonderful. We love them!

He was supposedly heavily in debt, so maybe this will help his estate and to provide for his kids better.

It was said on TV the other day that MJ will be one of the stars who earn more dead than alive. Look at Elvis...his estate still makes millions a years off of merchandising rights. I have no doubt this will be the same case with MJ.

Thanks! It is a couple years old now. We love our Boston too! She had a litter of pups last year, and they were all so cute! I don't think I'll ever have another breed of dog, she's met all of our expectations and more.

I think I'm one of the few younger kids who actually listened to MJ before the whole scandal. I grew up with MJ for a great part of my early childhood. I couldn't walk and barely talk, but I'd stand at the corner of the coffee table and wiggle my diaper covered butt to MJ! LOL. My parents would play one of their MJ concert tapes, and whenever they'd turn it off I'd point and whine so they'd turn it back on.

I bought Thriller and a Jackson 5 album for my ipod. I had the LP and a cassette of these at one time.

I bought MJ's Essentials last night on iTunes...can't get any of his stuff anywhere else right now. I may go back and download some other singles later. He was troubled, but oh so talented. I hope he is at peace...

There was a model search and I missed it? Which mall was it? Fair Oaks? Tyson's Corner?

It's not like everyone who's downloading it actually cares about his music, they just want to seem good and stuff. If they actually liked and cared for his music, they would have downloaded it already!

I'm sure there are a few (all of you on here, because I'm required to say that ), but the majority, probably not.

Amazon said there record sales for MJ went up 800% from Wednesday to Thursday. :confused3

Maybe he is gaining many new "younger" fans?

I have Fall Out Boy's cover of "Beat It" alongside the orignal in my IPod.
