Have you kept any of your 2017 resolutions?

Yes!!!
When I can close my mouth and wait ten seconds before snapping, I feel so much better ! It's been a great change and it's also nice to know that you specifically did this for your kids. My kids are adults now but my daughter definitely noticed - "Mom, you're so much more patient now."

My daughter is 16 so I know its not as bad as if she were younger, but I still don't want her around it.

Wen, are you keeping your photos grouped together for the year? What type of photography do you like best?
I am. It's #wenrobjpgproject on instagram. (not exciting really, lol) I like all sorts of photography and have been shooting as a serious hobby for about ten years. If I had to put a label on it I'd say I'm mostly a documentary shooter. I got really bogged down by all the gear and processing. I would not share if my photos weren't technically spot on so I picked up a Fuji mirrorless, am using one lens and only shooting jpg. No processing. It is what it is for the moment. It's been pretty freeing.

I will definitely go look! Thank you. You sound very knowledgable and also like it's a passion for you. Maybe a beginner class would be a good start (and help the resolution :thumbsup2 )

By bogged down I meant knowing too much if that makes sense. I somehow ended up on a quest for perfection when I never meant to and quit following my heart.

Totally makes sense!

ETA: oops, forgot to "quote"! WenRob, totally get what you're saying.

"Do more, cry less" - I'm not sure about this one since I've been handling schoolwork for example well enough but at the same time I've been crying just as much as before.
"Get a sleep pattern" - this is actually going surprisingly well since I haven't stayed up till midnight since the New Year's Eve.
"Improve your drawing skills" - not great. I've just been doodling simple stuff recently, and used the same technique every time as well.

At least I'm keeping one of them properly! :upsidedow

Yes for the first time ever! My DH and I vowed to finally get back to out fit selves. We are done having children, so their were really not more excuses left. We made a plan to start working out every day on Jan. 1st and change our diets. We had a goal to be 20lbs down by June 2nd.

I am proud to say I haven't missed one day! It started with 30mins on the elliptical a day, now I am up to 45m + yoga and now that the weather is nicer, I am getting back into running.

17lbs down as of this morning!! DH is right there with me, 17lbs down too. :woohoo:

I have. I was going to loose some weight, have some clothing fit or fit better. So far I'm down around 15lbs. I'm at the weight I resolved to reach. Now though I'm thinking it might be nice to drop another 5 to 10lbs, at least I feel that is what is would take to remove the last bit of tummy fat. It might take another resolution for that to happen though.

Wanted to get healthy for years but kept delaying or finding excuses to eat. We had a trip to WDW in January so I said when we get back I will start...another 2 weeks went by and I just decided to bite the bullet and go see a doctor about losing weight. Every time I tried on my own or with a program I failed. Well, happy to say I am on a very low carb, no sugar plan (lots of lean meats, fish and veggies), no processed foods and have lost 20 lbs. since Feb. 15. I am thrilled and so is my doctor. Her approach has been the only thing that worked for me. I now aim for at least 10,000 steps a day and have been pretty successful. I feel so much better about my eating and myself. Another huge part of the plan which was a bit hard in the beginning was to NEVER start the day with a carb. Never eat carbs at dinner or after. I know many people who have gone to her and lost over 70 lbs.

I no longer have cravings for sweets and finally feel like I am in control. Have way more to go!

I haven't exactly kept it yet, but I still have time. - I said I was going to have people over more, so the real test will come when the weather finally gets nice and we open the pool!

I have. My resolution was to do something fun by myself at least once a month, and also to take my two middle grandchildren somewhere fun once a month. ( I'm not neglecting the other two grandkids. The oldest is a teenager, so it's not cool to go out with granny. The other is still a baby.)

Actually, now that I think about it, I sort of have another one. I restarted a hobby I had from years ago. I told myself I'd give it a year of working on it to see if it ratchets up to the enjoyment factor of years ago. I had tried last year and didn't keep at it. So far, it's been a month and I'm doing okay. (Sweepstaking.)

That sounds fun! Both the outings and the sweepstakes!

Love this and maybe once a month would be a way for me not to slack on this. We've had family stay over but I do want to have more friends over, too. Thanks for this motivation.

Please do share the plan! I live my doctor, she says, oh you look great! You need to lose a little weight. Ha ha. She gives the good with the bad. I feel like I've got the activity part down and need to work on the food part.

Bilberry, way to go! What worked for you?

Jaspers, do you find things are easier when you get more sleep? I like your goals very much. And are you a self-taught drawer?

Good for you both! My DH can't go with me as much as I wish for activities but he is trying to eat better with me. You are SOCLOSE to your goal! Way ahead of schedule!

Well that's pretty awesome! What do you think worked best for you?

Thank you!!

I think it's been a mental shift of it not being on another fad diet and committing to a healthy diet and exercise for once. I was always pretty good at making excuses for skipping a workout, so having my apple watch has been pretty helpful with accountability. I like the badges I earn and the daily reminder of "You have worked out for XX days in a row" - very motivating. I also found that counting calories through the My Fitness Pal App has worked for me. I am more mindful of my eating and it totally helped with portion control.

My next goal after this first 20 is another 20 by our Disney trip at the end of August.
