This was in the Orlando Sentinel today - and Lou Mongello announced it on Fox 35 News yesterday

Disney World is holding a new kind of marathon this year. For the first time, its Magic Kingdom theme park will be open for business for 24 consecutive hours. Guests will be welcome from 6 a.m. on Feb. 29 to 6 a.m. on March 1. The leap-day news was made public Saturday evening during "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest" telecast on Disney-owned ABC.

The promotion, called "One More Disney Day," revolves around the idea that there is an extra day of theme parking in a leap year. Disneyland Park in California also will operate for 24 consecutive hours that day.

how freaking awesome is this? if only i could be there...

That's pretty cool... This time last year I was there, and this time last leap year I was there... We didn't get no stinkin' 24 hours! :rotfl:

i know... :)

it was originally posted in my cruise meet thread... i was like ... what??? that's awesome... how cool would it be to be in haunted mansion during the witching hour? or even just on main street at 3 in the morning.

apparently the press over there don't anticipate much attendance during the early morning hours... but what about shift workers and nurses and such who work odd hours & who don't get to go during normal park hours...

or you know.. crazy tourists like me who want to be there for a once in a lifetime (ok, the last time they did it was 87 but still... that's a fair few years between 24-hr openings) opportunity to be at DLR for an awesome event :)

I remember being there during the Captain EO opening weekend where Disney was open for I think it was 72 hrs straight. We were there at 2-3am in the morning, it was cool....granted the line from Captain EO stretched all the down to the Main Street train station, this was not cool!!!
