Have you had someone come to your door selling childrens reading material recently?

Please try not to answer your door to these people. About a month ago, an elderly woman in my town was killed by a magazine salesman.
He asked for a drink of water and she let him in.
We live in a very safe area, one with little major crime and where you would never think that would happen. It can happen anywhere.

I had the children's book guy last week. I was standing outside watering plants so I had no door to shut. I kept repeating that I don't buy from door to door salespeople,I'm not looking at anything, I won't give him any info about me or my neighbors, and he needs to leave my property. I was trying to be nice, but I was getting very close to going inside and calling the police.

My guy didn't seem creepy, and had what I think was a Scottish accent. He was just waaaay too persistent.

It didn't even occur to me until later when I was telling dh about it that I had a HOSE in my hand and could have gotten rid of him with one quick threat to his books!

I had them come to my house 2 years in a row. I think it was the second time they tried to push their way into my house. They were 2 college aged girls. I stopped them and asked them where they were going. Into my house to look at the books, uh no, no you are not! I said there must have been some miscommunication and I would not be buying any books and shut the door. They sound like they are getting scarier. I use to get so many "sales people" in my old neighborhood. None so far in this one!

Oh, there is a cleaning product my family has bought for years from door to door salespeople and it works great! It's been years since I've seen any of them. The last time I bought some and he went to my neighbors (and very good friend's house) she called me with him standing there to prove him wrong about me buying some, lol! She bought some too and she ended up loving it too!
