I am interested in hearing about your experiences getting a villa near the rest of your traveling party. I have three villas at OKW in October, and I am concerned that we'll be spread all over the resort. We have cars, so no big deal, but it would be nice to be near the family.

I had success in getting an additional room very close twice and fairly close once. The fairly close was a wait list that came through. Be sure to follow what Sammie advised and call MS.

Success depends on the size of the resort and how many people are checking out the same day that you are checking in for the same size and category of rooms. Getting 3 rooms or more close together will have less of a chance than 2.

I co-sign on the advice to make it the ONLY request you make, and you should have good luck

Make sure that MS has made a "traveling with" notation on all three of your reservations. The OKW assigner will do the best he/she can to make it happen.

We had a big group trip requiring 3 2 BR and 3 studios at OKW. We ended up with 2 2BR and a studio in 1 building and 2 studios and 1 2 BR in the building next to the first. We also had multiple units at BCV, just down the hall from other in one of the shorter wings, but not next door.

We did a traveling with at BLT twice and AKV Kidani once. The first BLT reservations were for three 2BRs which ended up all on the same floor but one was at the opposite end of the building and the other two were across the hall from each other, they were all Lake view. In June this year we had a 2BR and a studio Lake View at BLT and they were on the same floor with two rooms (a dedicated and the connecting 1BR to our studio) between us.

At AKV-Kidani we did a traveling with using our points and my DSIL points, the second 2BR was on the floor below us facing the other direction, but we were near an elevator and stairs and it was easy to get to each other. It turned out by being on two floors we were closer together than if they had placed the other room at the end of the hall.

We have been happy with our traveling with requests.

In 2012, we had 2 2BRs at OKW and they placed us right next to each other on the third floor. Next month, we have a 1BR P/G and a 2BR standard booked at BWV. We are hoping to be across the hall from each other. We prefer a higher floor, but since the reservations are listed as "traveling with", I do not want to supercede that request with a different location request.

We had four rooms at Kidani this summer- One 2BR and 3 studios. When I made the reservations 7 months out, I asked for it to be noted we were traveling together. About 2 weeks prior to check in, I called Member Services and just made sure the request was still noted on the reservation. Our rooms were in the same hallway, same floor and within a reasonable distance of one another. Two were actual across the hall from each other. Our only request was traveling together.

Several years ago, we arranged a huge family trip with DH's family. I think we booked 6 rooms at Old Key West. We had them linked with member services and requested nearness. It worked...everyone was pretty close: next door, upstairs, sort of thing.

Another time, we booked three rooms. 2 were right next to each other and the other was on a different floor.

BWV we had a GV and a BWV Studio. Linked reservations and we were next to each other.
We had our family in the studios magic bands linked to our GV so they were able to enter the GV if we weren't there.

It 5 trips travelling with another party at OKW only once did we get a Villa next door. And only once was it more than a 2 minute walk to their room.

When I got married last September we booked three 2 bedrooms and two studios for our families and a few of our wedding guests at BWV. All of our rooms were on the same floor with 2 of the 2 bedrooms being right next door to each other and the other rooms within 10 rooms or so.

Have never gotten rooms next to each other but each time (about 7 now) that we have had two rooms we have been given rooms on the same floor within a fairly short distance (like within a building pod at AKV). We put in the traveling with request and to be near each other and often a second somewhat generalized request like high floor at BWV and BLT or near pool at AKV Kidani, and it is the second request where we have had failure. Also, we have not attempteed it at a resort with numerous buildings like SSR or OKW.

Put "Travel with" notice on all three of your reservations of the other two reservation numbers. This way it alerts the room assigner CM that these rooms are to be looked at together, do NOT put in any additional requests if you do online check-in as these will over-ride any previously DVC entered requests. You can have the "Travel with" notices placed on the reservations by calling, emailing or chatting with MS.
Anyone over the age of 18 can then check-in all the rooms, when they arrive at the resort before everyone else.
I did this at SSR for three rooms booked under different names. DW & I arrived early and I was able to check-in all three rooms. Two of the rooms were online check-in and one was not. Inform the CM at check-in what you want to do and they can be most helpful. We got all rooms in the same building and on the same floor.
