Have you had any luck finding the resort you wanted?

So here is my dilemma.....

DH, DD, and I are booked for 2 nights at POR before our 7 night Disney Cruise, and then one night at OKW upon return. HOWEVER, my in-laws have recently decided to join us....like last week. There is no availability at POR for our 2 nights, but there IS availability if they stayed longer (which won't happen because of the cruise).

Has anyone had any luck continuously checking the reservations page? We have room only reservations, so I believe we have 5 days before arrival to cancel/make changes.

I'm hoping for some pixie dust as it is their first visit, and travel would be much easier if we were all in the same place! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

DH and I had to take a more expensive room at the Poly than we were planning on for this year, because the first 2 categories (standard, lagoon) were completely sold out, and we booked way back in Nov 2017 for Nov 2018. I don't know what it is about reservations lately, but they seem to be selling out much faster than they used to. We were trying to get the Poly for Nov 2019 and had to take the Contemporary when I booked about a month ago because the only 2 categories left at the Poly for that month were in the 8000 range for 7 nights, which is impossible for us. I'd say if you know any good TAs, try to get them involved, and yes keep checking the website for bookings. Sometimes one gets lucky.

Try calling CRO and ask if Guest services will help book the shorter stay. The CM that answers can't override the booking algorithm, but Guest Services are able to do so. Explain the situation at POR - they might help. It's worth a call, IMO.

You could also try booking POFQ which is just a short walk away from POR.

Good Luck!

Yes. I've changed my reservation 3 times this week because a room will randomly open up. We're doing 2 nights before a cruise next month.

I started as a split stay (WL/BC), then Copper Creek, then POR Royal pool, and now POR Garden. I'm ultimately looking for a POR Royal River but I'll be happy if we end up in the room we have booked now.

This is a good suggestion. It's not guaranteed guest services will do it, but it's worth a try ;).

There are sometimes other ways to get rooms than directly through Disney. I booked a standard room at the Poly in Dec. 2017 for Oct. 2018 (with a discount), but I used a TA.

I’d say to definitely get a good TA involved if you’re having trouble getting what you want. Sometimes they can help.

We had to adjust our dates (by a day) in order to get a room during the time frame we needed it but were forced into a resort we didn't want. Then, a few days ago, I was checking the website and found that the dates I originally wanted, at the resort I had wanted were available so I called immediately and had us switched. So it can definitely happen!

I agree with the PP's to call and explain your situation and obviously let them know you're all going on the cruise. If that doesn't work you could try for rooms at SSR which is close by POR.

What are the dates of your cruise? Wouldn't it be funny if we were headed out on the same one? We are staying in the POR Royal Garden view...we could be neighbors! :dogdance:

UPDATE: I spoke with the regular CM who booked my in-laws for one night at AsMu, and then the second night at POR with us.

I would like to take your suggestions and try calling CRO/Guest Services. Does anyone have that number, or do I just call the regular line and ask to speak with CRO?

Thanks for your help everyone! A little pixie dust has come my way! :tinker:

The Reservation number is CRO. When you get a CM ask to be transferred to Guest Services

Call the regular line (which is CRO - central reservation offices) and ask to be connected to Guest services.

Good luck!

FWIW: I called CRO and they said POR Royal rooms had night minimums (3 or 4 depending on which one).

Which is weird because I was able to book the POR Royal pool view for 2 nights before moving to Garden view.

Unfortunately, CRO gave you incorrect information.

Nope, they were definitely wrong. I was able to book my in-laws at POR Royal Room, Pool View for just one night.

Whether or not she was wrong, she still wouldn't let me book that room even though it's available for a longer stay.
