for the second week in Nov. time frame? I have checked Mousesavers, FatWallets, AARP and both rental sites and it seems the best i have done is $216 for a 5 day Intermediate rental - and i check the sites almost daily. Can anyone steer me towards some better rates? Thanks.

If you have an American Express, you can use code 5125601 with National and get a fairly good rate. I have an intermediate with National for both one week in October and one week in December for a total of $183.31.

Or join Budget's RapidRez program and book through them.

I got a great deal (I think) at Alamo for the first week of November (from Tuesday, 10/31 to Monday 11/6). I rented a mid-size and used the $20 off e- coupon on their site (right hand side of the home page under the header "weekly rental car exclusives"), plus one of the Wal-Mart discount codes on mousesavers (Rate Code: BY and ID# 430710). The Wal-Mart code gives you 20% off AND a free additional driver! My total for the 6 nights is $155! Good luck!

Sign up for Alamo's email specials. They send out last minute deals all the time and I got a great deal from them for my last two trips by changing to the last minute deal when it came out (both times I got a premium car for $179.99 for a week). Good luck!
