Have you ever watched the fireworks by IASW?

We watched the fireworks from there last night and it was amazing. It wasn't crowded and they were right overhead. They show actual clips of the rides, that go along with the soundtrack, on the outside of IASW. It was awesome. We were able to turn around and see also. We couldn't see much of the fireworks from the castle but it was well worth it to not have to fight the crowds.

When you say you couldn't see much of the fireworks from the castle, does that mean you couldn't see many fireworks at all? Or that some of the fireworks were not visible, but some were? Thanks!

I have frequently watched fireworks from this area because you can get a good spot to see most of the fireworks and the projections at the last minute without wall to wall crowds. The main thing that you miss are are some of the pyrotechnics effects around Main Street and the castle, but you could see all the main fireworks quite well.

No, we saw most of the fireworks. They just shoot some of those bright, white, non exploding ones up around the castle. You can still see them you just have to turn to the left a little bit. But the big, exploding, high up in the air ones are shot off from behind Toon Town. It is a great view and I will watch from back there from now on.

We ended up standing right to the right of the tower that projects the movie onto IASW and it was perfect.

Yeah you don't have to sit waiting for 2 hours before the show. We got there after the show had already started.

That is my favorite spot. I have to see them once from the hub but thats enough. The thing that is nice about being back by IASW, there is some seating on the these wall/bench type things, the churros and ice cream carts aren't that crowded, there is a bathroom nearby (near Princess Fantasy Faire) and you can get to the monorial station faster and thus wait less time for a monorail than if you try to get on the monorail from the hub. We have found that with travelling with elderly family members and just not enjoying being in a human sardine can atmosphere, its worth giving up some of the affects you see from the hub only. And you see the projections on IASW itself which are worth quite a bit.

We have viewed the fireworks from many places, but this sounds like a wonderful new option for us. Thanks everyone, to the right of IASW it is!
This will be particularly helpful for my solo trip at the end of July when crowds are at a maximum

I don't want to get caught in the "herd" being guided towards Main Street by the CMs; I will stay until midnight--or whenever they kick me out! What route do you suggest I take from IASW in order to get to POTC or HM? Or would that be the worst direction that I could possibly head in? (Please be brutally honest )

Where exactly are you saying to watch them from? Is it directly across the entrance of IASW? Like along the parade route?

Yes right across from IASW entrance facing IASW. The fireworks are coming from behind TT.

Brenda you can take the train from Toon Town to NOS. Or you can walk through Fantasyland to Frontierland. I don't know how crowded it is if you walk but I think the train would be your best bet. They have all entrances from Fantasyland to Main Street blocked for a while to let the crowd out.

You could definitely walk thru Fantasyland then use the Big Thunder Trail over into Frontierland (that trail starts right near the Village Haus restaurant, back in the back of Fantasyland near the Casey Jr. Circus Train ride). That is almost always a nice, shortcut with minimal crowds to get from Fantasyland to New Orleans Square, Frontierland or Critter Country. The train is a very good option as Bsbllmom said because if you are trying to get into Frontierland you can run into a lot of human traffic if there is a 10:30 Fantasmic. However, the cm's do a very good job of keeping people moving along. However, a lot of other people will want to use the train as well so make sure you get to the station as quickly as you can, they will have that area roped off during the fireworks I believe, but you can wait at the rope then head to the train station as soon as they drop that rope. Either way you go (walking or train) will encounter some crowds and logistic challenges but nothing like if you are in the hub area in my opinion.
