Have you ever sneaked a peak at a Christmas/birthday gift?

When I was about 11, I really wanted Mattel Talking Football (it was kind of like Madden before video games). I went looking for it in my parents' room and I found it! And I'd spoiled my Christmas 2 weeks before it came. I didn't do that again.

I knew where my parents kept anything so I definitely was a snooper. They wised up eventually and started keeping everything at a neighbours house.

I did when I was a kid. I had a series of tests, including the shake and heft test, and then the peeling of a corner of wrapping. Only did this on a few, so I was still surprised.

One year my sister and I told each other what we wanted to get each other. She wanted Madonna's True Blue album on tape, and I wanted the Mouse Trap boardgame. One night, we actually pre-gifted in secret (she played her Madonna while I played Mouse Trap) then we rewrapped and acted surprised on Christmas.

Not regarding the OP and snooping, but Christmas 1981 my brother and I gave each other the same exact album (AC DC - For Those About to Rock), which had just come out. It was quite funny on Christmas day!

I was a total snoop when I was a kid. I would go looking for the gifts mom hid in the attic.

Ive never looked. I’ve always loved surprises. It’s just not as much fun knowing ahead of time.

Not on purpose but it happened once. We always knew Mom and Dad’s closet was off limits all the time, but one year Mom hid some unwrapped gifts under their bed, and in a game of hide and seek I found them. I didn’t say a word, and I guess I gave all the appropriate surprised words and looks because it never came up. I just avoided their room altogether in December from that point on.

I never did because, they tell me, that I am never curious about that stuff. I'll find out when I open them. I had a cousin though that was an expert at opening every gift before she got it. Honestly, she could unwrap stuff and never tear the paper, open it up and rewrap it and no one ever knew she did it for years. One night when we were together she confessed to doing that when she was young. Her mother was shocked. She was never able to tell that they have been violated and I'll vouch for that. Looking at them you would never know they were even touched much less opened.

My sister and I did when we were younger....but it was only one time because we both realized it sucked to "act surprised". But the funny part of it was that it was just me, sis and dad. He never took baths (only showers) so his bathtub because "the place" he would hide all the wrapped gifts. My sis and I actually UNWRAPPED the gifts and then re-wrapped them very carefully and neat........ in totally different wrapping paper. Like I said, we only did it once and no clue if my dad ever realized what we did. We even went so far as to take the 1st wrapping paper out in a garbage bag that we purposely put into our neighbors bin! We were sneaky and well organized sisters!
