Another poster mentioned a specific TA doing a special Anna & Elsa meet/breakfast for a fee. Before I actually absorbed the post, I had a mental image of Anna & Elsa in some dumpy hotel buffet in Anytown, USA and got to thinking ...

Have you ever seen a true Disney character outside of the realm of a Disney property? I have seen Disney on Ice once which did not have the magic for me at all. It seems to me that once you take the characters out of their element (Disney property), the magic is completely lost. I think the idea of Cinderella being in measely Anytown is just odd and disappointing. Or this...

I love NYC. And I love this couple. But together, it's just ... dumb.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Mickey and a few friends were available for Meet and Greets at the Walt Disney Company Shareholder meeting in San Antonio a few years ago, which was held at the JW Marriott.

Mickey and Minnie come down to San Diego every year to open our outdoor holiday ice skating rink. I was surprised they actually had one of the Mickeys with the animated faces this year. I think they're just as cute off-property.

Our local mall had a Disney Store Grand Opening and to celebrate there was a character meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie (they switched every hour). I was SOOOO excited when we stumbled upon this when we just went to get lunch. We waited in line for probably 15 minutes. It was magical :-) But it definitely was only magical because it was such a rare-feeling experience--a magical moment one would say pixiedust:

The first time DCL docked in Halifax they sent Mickey, Minnie and Donald to the local children's hospital for a visit. I didn't know this, as non-nursing staff, but imagine my shock to see them in the hall when I was returning to work after lunch! So I grabbed my camera and followed them until I could get a pic. It certainly made my day :cool1:

They are always in Time Square....except aren't real. They talk another language and always pull their head off. I feel bad for the kids who see this!

There is a company in northeast Ohio that does parties and meet n greets with the princesses. My coworker is a big fan (has never been to Disney or at least since she was young). She sends me pictures of them bc she knows I hate it. Some are decent and some are just ridiculous.

Worst was Sofia the First...was an adult face character. No no no you got it all wrong.

I met Belle and Beast at the Disney Store in my local shopping mall (in the UK) about 20 years ago! It was to mark the release of Beauty and the Beast on video!

Not a Disney park but a Disney resort

I literally bumped into Santa Goofy at Old Key West Resort....
I was one excited Nana, perfect way to start Christmas Day at Disney.

Have you seen some of the awful foreign Disney costumes for sale on eBay? They are full sized adult and are clearly not the real thing. Sometimes people will be set up like a flea market on the side of the road and someone will wear the Mickey Mouse one waving at traffic. It gets my attention, but not for any magical or positive reasons. I have seen Sponge-Bob too, though he isn't Disney. I came across these when I was looking for a Pluto costume for DD. Looking at some of those costumes will make you laugh, especially the size of the knot on poor Pluto's head! They are usually from China.
