Have you ever missed your "first home" and paid cash to just stay there again?

Yes, we paid cash to return to our 1st "love", POR. Once in conjunction with with our first trip home at BWV (that was a lovely two weeks ) and once during free dining . We had a wonderful time...although on the second trip my DH missed the ESPN club. . We will probably only return now during the free dining promotion!

As much as we love Dixie Landings, we just can't seem to justify the extra cost over ASMu when doing the free dining (which we are doing this Sep/Oct). $63 extra per day plus tax, Yikes! Comes out to an extra $473 for a 7 night stay!!

Sooooo, we are tacking a few days on at SSR to get that 'deluxe' feel!
Am I being too cheap???? Am I betraying our beloved DxL?

Yes!! As a matter of fact, I have four of them, but they're not yellow, they're red with Brer Bear and Fox on them. And they say Dixie Landings on them, shhhhh, I plan on bringing two of them with us (did I just say that). And I have the Dixie Landings pin, love that, one of my favorite souvenirs of all time. I wish I had a coffee mug, I collect them. Don't ya wish it was still called that?

Us too....us too....count me in....we still have the ones with red lids w/Briar Bear, that say Dixie Landing. Yep, I remember......these are LIFETIME SODA's, how can you pass that up! However, we've never brought them back.....just use them at home. We are PEPSI drinkers, so we figure out a way to get the stuff we NEED....a grocery stop or delivery service.

Not being able to stay at AKL was what held us back from buying DVC in the first place. We bought in last year and already stayed at AKL for the first night of our trip last December and will do that again this next December, too. We want the concierge to be able to do the sunrise safari. The rest of the trips in December were/will be at BWV.

We're BCV owners and love it there. But I find myself thinking about POR alot. We absolutely loved our stays there a few years ago. So, our next trip, we're doing a week at BCV, but starting off with three days at POR, using one night of points and 2 nights on cash. Are we crazy??

Not Crazy at all.

"Dixie Landings" is where we had our honeymoon and it will aways be special to us.

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon(and my first trip to WDW) and fell in love, we have been there 5 subsequent times, but after DVC just once for a quick cheapie trip because I found airfare for $109 p/p, and we had no points left.

We booked the bounce back/free dining deal in December for this upcoming August--a week at CBR, we can't wait, even though I know I will miss the balcony and the roominess of the 1 bedrooms.

We have our big yellow mugs from oh, probably 1992? What a unique size and style! We put them away with our big box of other Disney keeper mugs because one of them finally broke and I was afraid to break the other 2! My fav are the VWL and the AKL mugs that have the slim bottoms that fit in the car holders. Does anyone know what other (if any) resorts have that style right now?

I know that our VWL mugs look about the same as the new ones today. They have not changed the logo (it's a classic!). And that slim bottom is what we have. Well, on our mugs anyway .
