Have you ever made any wrong turns in WDW?

Out of all the vacations my family & I have taken to WDW we have not been lost, but missed a ramp to where we are going. A few years ago we were drving back to the Contemporary after having dinner at Boma & by mistake my Dad had missed the ramp & the sign that said Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Downtown Disney next left. So we had to drive by Disney's Wide World Of Sports & turn around. This past August when we arrived in Orlando we had got off exit 65B, because of the construction & we were comming in from Tampa. Well as luck would have it my Dad missed the same ramp again, the only difference we were on the other side & I had said to him we turn there. So we had turned around just before the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Anyway have you ever been in WDW & may have missed the place where you were suppost to turn, or had no idea where you were going but eventually found your way back?

I drive a lot in my regular day to day, and almost never miss an exit, a road, etc. Over the past 8 years that I have been going to WDW, my missed attempts there exceed by far all my combined years of driving I think. You do have to know how they work their signage.

This has nothing to do with driving in WDW (and yes, I have missed a turn or two) but man, you have a ****load of posts....

I've always been good with directions and finding my way around new places. This past October was my first time to drive around in WDW and I have to admit I wandered around a lot, I wasn't lost just not in the right area :teeth:
Of course I would have done better if I didn't have a certain passenger griping in my ear the whole time.

Many years ago we had a car and were trying to find POFQ. Well I kept missing the turns and wound up in the parking lot for the Fire House on numerous occasions. The one with the dalmation paint scheme.

Well to this day I can not pass that fire house without someone reminding me of it.

Wow, I've never had that problem at WDW. I'm usually pretty good at directions and have found the signs give me all the info I need.

But I have found a few instances where the signs seem to send you the long way around to get to a particular place. Or maybe I just like my short-cuts. :cool1:

When we went in April 2005 we were going to MK and the sign said it was the next right, there was a little road off to the right, but no other signs to say what it was. So we kept going and ended up at Animal Kingdom. The man collecting the money allowed us to turn around and told us how to get to MK. It was sort of amusing. I'm sure it will get mentioned next month when we go back to WDW. :) :rotfl:

Last May my DH was trying to park as close as possible to the MK... as I was 6 months pregnant. I tried to convince him there were no other options than the TTC, but he just wouldn't believe me. :confused3

So.. he tried to drive up to the entrance of MK, near where the buses drive... and, of course, there was no place for us to go :sad2: ... we ended up driving *around* the MK...! very fascinating, but also a bit of a waste of the 15-20 minutes it took to drive around it. Luckily our kids didn't realize that they were going in a big circle.. they were too young to be impatient!!

Just back a few weeks, and we repeatedly missed finding of all places ALL STAR resorts.......... they are huge, how could we miss them?? Seems they are left off many signs though. It was just a little tricky. I usually stay at BCV, very east to find, and so is Pop.

We've been to WDW twice, and both times, got lost going back to the airport. Missed the exit I guess and found ourselves heading into downtown Orlando!

I'm actually quite nervous about the whole thing again next month. I couldn't convince my husband to take ME, he wants the car from the get-go, and the rates through the Dolphin are double what they are at MCO. Can anyone point me in the direction of some very clear driving routes?!

Oh yeah.......we miss a few turnoffs here and there on every trip. We just look at it as an adventure and have ended up seeing places on Disney property that we didn't even know existed!! Somehow we ended up in the wayyyyy back area with all kinds of utility and service buildings one day....very cool to see!
