Have you ever left negative feedback on eBay?

For the first time, I'm really tempted. I ordered a Cinderella "Shimmer Princess" doll & horse set for Christmas. It was advertised as "new".

I paid $10.37 for shipping.

The seller ran a sheet of brown wrapping paper over it (sort of like supermarket brown bag material) and shipped it like exactly like that. No attempt was made to even put a thin sheet of bubble wrap underneath the paper wrapping.

Now, most of you know that those dolls are packaged in those plastic-type boxes. Very flimsy, not very durable. Certainly not meant to be shipped without being inside a box.

Well, you should see the condition of this thing when it arrived. I paid $10.37 for the seller to tape some brown paper around the actual doll's packaging and ship it. Of course, the weight of all the other packages crushed & cracked the plastic box.

I emailed the seller and told her how disappointed (and ripped off) I felt. I really feel frustrated because any seller with more than an ounce of common sense would know that such flimsy packaging wouldn't do well in transit during the height of the Christmas shopping season.

I have never left a negative feedback, but I really want to. I'm pretty angry right now. It's a week before Christmas and I have to hand my 4-year old niece this wreck of a box. The doll and horse seem OK, but that is simply pure luck. Based on the condition of the box, it could have been worse.

Wow, I'm not sure what i'd do. I've never left negative feedback, once I left nuetral. I'm sure you will get some good responses. The Budget Board here on the Dis has a lot of ebayers on it.

I would give the seller the opportunity to make it right, perhaps a refund or partial refund, and then once they have made an attempt, I would leave feedback based on their response. Paying 10 bucks for shipping seems a little high for something like that AND it was inadequately packed for shipping. Even if the items inside don't seem damaged, the seller certainly doesn't know that and should have protected the item better.

You could still give positive feedback if they make some attempt to help, but be sure to include a warning to future buyers to ask for sturdy packaging.

If they don't respond or seem to have no care, I wouldn't hesitate to leave negative feedback.

Aaah! This is my e-bay pet peeve! I've actually had sellers charge for handling and then slide the item into a plain white letter size envelope.

Honestly I wouldn't bother giving them a shot at fixing it. They just don't care, thats why they sent it to you in that manner in the first place. I've given a couple of people a shot and there position was that it was stated in the auction... Well I thought the seller was charging it because they were acutally providing that service :lmao: Silly me! Come to think of it none of the packages would have passed mustard even for free.

This is why eBay changed their feedback policies.

Buyer's are encouraged to leave HONEST feedback - be it bad or good - as the Seller can no longer leave negative retaliatory feedback.

And yes - Ive left negative, and been retaliated against for such. But - it had to be done when I never got my item. ;)

Was the product itself ok? That being said, I bought a cheap cell phone off of ebay and it came in a shoe box without even a piece of paper around it to support it, that really made me mad, the cell phone was knocked around during shipping how stupid can some people get, I left no feedback at all for that loser. :headache:

Did the seller respond when you told them how the package arrived?
I would ask for a shipping refund.
I wouldn't leave a negative but if the seller doesn't offer you something I would definitely leave a neutral.

That is a great idea. Even if she refunds half the shipping, I'd be at least a little satisfied. I will send a message. Thanks.

Definitely give the seller a chance to make things right. As a seller, I have to say it's annoying when a buyer jumps right to leaving a negative without even communicating a problem. This may be a new seller who's a bit clueless and didn't realize what he did would be a problem.

Don't say anything about feedback one way or another. That can come across as feedback extortion and hurt your case if it escalates to getting eBay involved. As it is it sounds like you stand a chance of winning a SNAD (Significantly not as described) dispute. If you paid for a new toy in a new box, you didn't receive that.

You could also ask for a full refund; chances are the seller won't do that unless the item is returned. If that's the case, the seller should pay for return shipping.

Yes, I've left negative feedback. I would leave negative feedback for this IF the package was damaged and/or the seller didn't respond when you complained.

I bought a Mulan Christmas tree ornament several weeks back. It arrived with both her arms broken off because, like in your case, it was shipped in the original box and not inside another box. I contacted the seller right away and explained the situation and they were quick to credit my paypal account. I ended up leaving positive feedback because they were so easy to work with.
