I know and I'm getting worried. Apparently they were supposed to do an electrocardiogram, sinus series, and ultrasound on her abdomen yesterday morning.

I think that was this morning. It's possible they're still at the hospital. Oh sorry, editing to say my mistake, I read the last post from OP and those tests were yesterday. The different time zones confuse me sometimes.

I'm so sorry I haven't posted. The last couple of weeks have caught up with me and I've just been too tired to post.

Sarah is still running a fever. The good news is that yesterday was the first day that it did not go over 102. So far today it has only been up to a little over 101. So I am praying that whatever it is may be getting better.

Thursday she had the electrocardiogram and sinus series done. She was to have had the ultrasound on her abdomen then too but no one told us she couldn't drink anything after midnight and she had some Gatorade before we went. They rescheduled for today.

Yesterday was the first day of school. After she finished the tests we went by the school so she could get her schedule. Everyone there was very nice but it tired her out. I knew she was weak but I didn't realize just how much.

Sarah wants to go back to school on Monday even if she is still running a fever. I'm not sure she is up to it. She is taking a duel-enrollment English class that only allows two missed classes per semester. I really don't think she is contagious. No one else is sick, not her father, her boy friend, me, or even my sister who has a seriously compromised immune system right now - her blood counts are awful because of the Chemo she is taking. We are all around her every day and surely someone would be sick if it could be caught.

Monday we go back to the doctor to get the results of the electrocardiogram, sinus series. twenty four hour urine test, ultrasound and a ton more blood work.

She has white lips and a white tongue because her blood count is down. Anyone would have a low count if they ran borderline low anyway and had as much drawn as she has had for blood tests. Her Cotillion is tomorrow. Seniors wear white formals. She says she is going to blend right into her dress and just be a big white blob. I think some lipstick and lots of blush are going to be needed.

I never would have thought anyone could have as many tests as she has had and still have no idea what is wrong. Please keep her in your prayers as she is still as sick girl.

Oh God. Give her a GIANT hug for me, please? From one teenage girl who's taken chemo to another, I know how she's feeling. I know what it's like to be feverish and pale and so tired it hurts to roll over in bed. Please let her know I am always here for her if she ever needs to talk.

Hugs to all involved! I hope you get answers soon! I wonder if all that testing would show Vasculitis, if that is what it is. I really don't even know what the proper testing would be for that, but it might be worth mentioning. The story I found in that book said that after a dose of prednisone, the girl was feeling better within 24 hours (not completely better, but better than she had felt in a month.) I had never heard of vasculitis until reading the passage in that book, but it really struck me as having similar symptoms as your DD.

Penny, your poor baby, bless her heart . Sending continued prayers for Sarah and all her family to please have some answers soon so she can be on the mend. I really hope she feels well enough to go to her Cotillion tomorrow, even if for a short while, know how important it is for the young ladies and it will help her spirits.

Sarah made it through Cotillion last night. She was beautiful. Pale, and if you know her you could tell how sick she has been, but still beautiful. We took a lot of pictures and later when we get them om the computer I'll post one. At the very end senior class fathers and daughters dance together on stage and it is so sweet to watch them.

She was exhausted by the time it was over even though the Cotillion only lasted ninety minutes. She and Jacob went to the dance but only stayed forty five minutes or so before they came home so she could rest.

The best news is that yesterday her temp didn't go over 100.5 and she was probably free of fever for half the day. I am praying that whatever she has is finally getting better. Being so sick for so long has really taken a toll on her and it is going to take a while to recover. Tomorrow we see the doctor to get the results of the latest tests and I still hope he can put a name to whatever it is.

How did she feel after the cotillion? She must have been exhausted. I'm sure she is happy that you let her attend and it will be a memory that she'll have forever, but having fun is hard work when you're sick.

I hope you have your answers today.

I was wondering the same thing, thought they might be back by now. Hopefully it was good news, or at least some answers...hate to think they may have sent her for more tests, see another doctor, or off to the hospital.

We are home, had the last appointment of the day.

I hope "no news is good news" is a true saying because we didn't really get much. On the plus side her test results are all good. Heart good, no Hepatitis, no Mono (again), abdominal ultrasound good.

I asked about the kitten she got two weeks before she got sick. He said they have tested for diseases she could have caught from it.

Her heart rate is still fast. Her liver functions are still up. She still is running a fever but thank goodness it is low grade now. She either has a temp or she is clammy to the touch. She went to school today. As a senior she gets out at 12:30. She was very tired by the time she got home. She also said her heart ran away several times today. The doctor says the echo cardiograph and blood work done to check her heart is all good.

Her Hemoglobin was 10.4. They took more blood, her poor arms are so bruised. The doctor is conferring again with the Infection Decease doctor and says they are testing for some really rare stuff now.

Sarah didn't feel up to doing anything with the pictures yesterday so I'll post one as soon as she does.

My poor sister gets more blood tomorrow. Her Hemoglobin is 8 and her white count 2.0.

We have some wonderful news. My oldest son and DIL are going to have a new little baby. What a spirit lifter that is. They have two little boys so a little girl would be great even though the four year old wants a brother because "a sister would follow him around and want to be his girlfriend".

The doctor told us to come back in a week to get the results of the new blood work unless she gets worse again in the meantime.

Penny, have you thought about having a port or a PICC line for Sarah? It's a catheter placed under the skin that's connected to a large vein. You can draw blood, give blood, give IV medications, etc. from it. It's especially useful since IVs only last so long and there's only so many places you can place an IV. It's good for long time treatments or tests. They put it in through a small surgical procedure (mine was placed under local anesthetic and Valium), and they're worth their weight in gold. I had a port, so as long as it was covered in a dressing I could shower.

I'm glad Sarah's fever is now low grade and she gets to make it to school. Even if it's only for a little bit, it's still very important - especially for her self-esteem.
