Have you ever heard of this? Post # 173 Test results, she is better!

Penny, just another thought. Wasn't Sarah the one who got sick a couple of years ago while you were on vacation at WDW? Was it her appendix? I know this sounds odd, but, in rare cases, they grow back. I know that sounds crazy, but I saw a show once where they did not get the full appendix and it grew back and caused a lot of problems.

If I'm hallucinating, please ignore this.

I think a fever this high should not be messed around with. I think she should be seen.

Has she had an IV yet?

Yes, it was Sarah who was so ill while we were on vacation three years ago. Scared us to death then too. It wasn't her appendix, they never did find out why her blood level got so very low. She had exploratory surgery and took four units of blood then.

She had an IV while we were at the ER on Friday. They gave her two bags of fluid to help hydrate her after the Spinal Tap.

Doctor still has not called back. She has a low grade fever this morning but it is that way every morning.

Please pray for her.

Penny

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but has she been checked for leukemia? Symptoms can include fever, fatigue, headaches.

We're all hoping for a speedy diagnosis and recovery.

The poor girl - so sorry to hear she's so ill. Thank God she has you for a mom - you're doing everything you possibly can.

Does she have a rash anywhere or very dry (peeling) skin? E.g. her palms or soles? Any redness on her tongue, lips or eyes?

No rash or dry patches. She is pale and has dark circles under her eyes but I think that is because she has been sick so long.

When they checked her blood her platelets were good, just her hemoglobin is a little low.

I just don't know. Our doctor friend called. He is talking to an Infectious decease doctor. He is to call us back within the hour.

I just don't know....

Penny

Aww poor baby. She will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I know it's a shot in the dark but maybe it's a blood disorder? I had a pretty serious infection last year (no clue as to what that was) and I was hospitialized, and through the course of everything it was determined that I have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome. With it I get headaches that make me very sensitive to light and often migraines too in addition to DVT and blood clots.

If I have missed this, please forgive me. But how close are you to the nearest Children's Hospital? Bypass the regular ER and get her to a Children's Hospital and go thru their ER.

I am so sorry you are not getting any answers. It sucks when our babies are sick and we don't know why.

Our doctor friend called. He is talking to an Infectious decease doctor. He is to call us back within the hour.

I hope he has some news for you. Stay strong.

P.S. I know you know this but no harm in re-iterating it. With that almost-constant fever she has a constant risk of dehydration so keep pushing the fluids.

Man, I hope you get to the bottom of all this soon. Hugs and prayers for you and your DD.

I would admit her and watch her in the hospital - while awaiting some of the other tests...

I've been trying all day to get her in the hospital. I never in my life have had such a hard time getting help. The problem seems to be that the hospital where our doctor friend works in for patients under the age of 18. Sarah turned eighteen in July. He says he has all of her records in the hands of an Infectious disease doctor. He has even sent for her records from the surgery in Orlando three years ago.

Still waiting for him to call back.

Penny

Aww Penny , I can imagine how worried you must be and am sorry to hear they haven't diagnosed what's wrong with your sweet Sarah :worried:. This has been going on far too long :guilty: and let's hope and pray your Dr. friend can pull some strings to have her admitted so they can can to the root of her illness. Sending continued prayers that you have answers soon so proper treatment can begin. {{Hugs}} for Mom too!

You might want to consider taking her to the Mayo Clinic. I know Minnesota is a little far away but the thing about Mayo is if she has it, what ever "it" is, they have probably seen it already. If nothing else maybe your dr will do a phone consult with some docs there. They can fax/email over her records too. I would also want her admitted to run every test in the book. On top of which, she might actually sleep better there??

Poor Sarah. I didn't remember exactly what happened, but remembered her being very sick while here. I hope they find something soon!

I remember when Sarah used to post on the TB. We miss her over there! I really hope she gets better. I'll be thinking of her.

Have they tested her for Malaria? Given her symptoms, I would think this is something they should test for immediately.

oh my! my thoughts are with your family, this must be so trying for all of you. :grouphug:
