Have you ever had a 1 BR villa at Vistana Villages?

Hi.
We have traded in RCI for a 1 BR villa at Sheraton Vistana Villages. Our confirmation letter says "full kitchen" but I see that their website has a variety of 1 BR floorplans. Everything from a full sized condo with whirlpool, balcony, full kitchen and dining room (800 sq ft) to a much smaller room with no balcony and only a "fully equipped kitchenette."
Can you tell me your experience with these? How do I know which one is reserved? Can I request the larger room? We've never stayed at this resort. I think we'd be ok with the smaller room, just would prefer the space since there will be 3 adults.

I have stayed at VV in a 2 br. RCI trade. I had thought that there were 2 types of 1 br, as you noticed The smaller ( without a balcony) is located on the ends of the buildings.. so there are only 2 per floor. I think that there are 4 of the larger ones.per floor. So if it makes you feel better, the odds are with you getting a larger one. I'd hold them to the full kitchen since it's on your confirmation from RCI. You could just call them and ask what you will get or request a full kitchen.

Call them and request. I did this summer, I asked for the larger side of a lock off. For some reason uknown to me they gave me a two bedroom for the same price. Not only did I get the 4 day deal for 219 (with 100 back making it 119) BUT they put me in a two bedroom. Just call and tell them you want the larger of the one bedrooms and maybe if they do not have it they will give you a two. It could not hurt.

Bella the Ball 360 - Did you trade with RCI for your room?

This is what I see from the Vistana Villages website:

483 Sq. Ft. 1-Bedroom Villa has a balcony and kitchenette.

488 Sq. Ft. 1-Bedroom Villa looks like a lock-off with kitchenette, no balcony. Has a door to an adjoining villa and says "bedroom #2" in the bedroom area.

882 Sq. Ft. 1-Bedroom Villa has all the bells and whistles. Also has the adjoining villa door. Bedroom is labelled "master."

I think I will call. I don't have experience requesting rooms at a non-Disney hotel. Sounds like a bigger unit is quite likely. Thanks for the reassurance.

I guess I just got spooked by this on the RCI website: "One bedroom units include full kitchens w/convection ovens and limited work surfaces. REQUEST FOR CHANGES IN CHECK-IN DAY, UNIT SIZE, LOCATION OR MAX/PRI OCCUPANCY ARE NOT PERMITTED. UNIT ASSIGNMENTS ARE MADE UPON ARRIVAL. "

stand your ground......a FULL kitchen should be just that.....

celebration world did that to us when we had FULL kitchen on our RCI exchange form....tried to put us in the LOCK out 1 bedroom which had a partial kitchen

they said RCI assigned it, RCI said the resort assigns it, in the end we were put into the unit on the larger side....

would not hurt to call VV either...

We were there in May after winning a one bedroom on Skyauction. I signed up for Diamond Lane and upon checkin was offered a larger unit...but I would have to wait for a little while for it to be cleaned. We decided to go with what was given and it was fine for 3 of us. It was also an end unit on the top floor which made it really quiet. I found Vistana staff to be very helpful and accommodating. I also emailed them our request and they responded to let me know they had received it.

NO I di dnot exchange from RCI. We 're Starwood Club(or whatever Sheraton calls it ) memebers and they sent us a deal a one bedroom for 4 days 219 with 100 back when we got there. We called and told them we wanted the larger of the one bedrooms which would be the owners in a lock off and for some reason as I said they gave us a two that was not a lock off. You need to call the resort itself for this request. Mabye it was a fluke or maybe they were trying to be nice to us so we would take a tour(we did not but if we had they would have given us another 75 back!) either way we enjoyed it. It was our 4th stay in 5 years. WE always try to find a way to go back at a low price and so far we have been able to . No matter where you stay you will really like it.

There is no Diamond Lane, that is at Vistana this is VISTANA VILLAGES two diff resorts. V V is small and very nice

Bella - Thanks. Since you seem to be a repeat visitor, is there anything else I should request for our room? A certain building or area?
Also, any tips on the resort? How long does it take to get to a Disney park from there?

Thanks again.

Time to the park would be around 10 minutes from your door to the parking lot(once you're in the lot it is anyone's guess).

I would say all the buildings were good. We were in 10 this time and it backs up to the street. I am sure it is because we were practically paying nothing. I figured it would be noisy. It was extremely QUIET. I would ask for the newest building if I could get it. Everything was in good repair when we were there but the lower the number the older the building.

It is really nice since it is so small. Pool, workout room, or even the bar are steps from eachother.

I was one of the first guests at VV we were there the week they opened and there were only 3 (I think) buildings open and construction going on all around. When we used the pool there were maybe 4 people in it along with us(no kidding). I have gone back all but one of the 5 years they have been opened and I do not see an lesser quality in either staff or accomodations. That is why I say you cannot go wrong.

Only one suggestion ....You do NOT want a ground floor. The privacy is nil. I usually ask for the top floor so no one is over my head.

Thanks! I don't usually like ground floor. That's good to know. I'll try to make requests this week.
