I did once! I got a postard in the mail saying, "We have great news for you! Please call..." and a big smiley face. Well that alone should have been my clue, but I had just gotten back from a long, bad day at work and frankly needed some great news, LOL!
I called and they say "Congratulations you can be entered in a sweepstakes, get fabulous magazines, and a free gift!" Well I fell for it hook, line, and sinker! The free "designer" watch, the seven discounted magazines, the free sweepstakes entires. They word it SO sneaky about the magazine pricing. They make it sound like it's going to be $3 something per magazine, per month, which isn't really a bad deal. But if you listen closely it's actually $3 something per magazine PER WEEK!
After I hung up, I did the math and it would have cost me over $700!! I was so angry I called the next day and luckily there is a THREE DAY period to cancel! I went online an others got scammed too. Whew.
A year or two later I got another card signed by "Maggie." Well this time I called and kept asking for Maggie and she kept saying Maggie isn't here. Then she started talking about the magazines and I said, "Can I get...Playboy?" And she said yes so I started to get all excited on the phone. Then she was transferring me to a supervisor, upon which I SLAMMED THE PHONE DOWN! And they called me right back but I didn't pick up the phone. Boy that felt good!
