Have you ever checked out of your resort with a zero balance?

There must be something wrong with me!!!!!!!! I would never even think of having a zero balance.

OP back here. Well I think there is a real difference when staying at HHI versus a WDW resort. At HHI, there really isn't that many things you can charge to your room. We did do a lot of cooking in our 1BR (most breakfasts and lunches and a couple dinners). Plus when we ate out we ate at local restaurants rather than Tide Me Over or Signals. Any groceries we bought, we bought at the Piggly Wiggly instead of the the resort store. We didn't buy any souvenirs (who needs another Mickey Mouse coffee cup).

This wouldn't happen when we visit WDW. We typically charge everything to our room there and since we typically are staying in a studio, we very seldom have any meals in our room. But it's two different type vacations completely. My point is that it does show you can spend a very nice vacation at a DVC resort (albeit HHI) without spending a fortune. And the closer you get to retirement, the more you will come to appreciate that.

Always zero balance at WDW, don't even leave a card for express check out. I just call down when we are leaving the room to make sure everything is OK and tell them we've left.

Always have a balance at VB and HH. I guess cause of all the activities we let the girls do. Last trip at VB had a HUGE bill!

It is nice not to have that bill when you check out though!

We went to HHI last summer I gave them $75 worth of Disney Gift Cards that I had earned at Sunshine Rewards and we were good to go. We did several of the activities, bought souveniers, mugs, etc. and left with exactly a zero balance. We actually had to work more at spending exactly $75 so they didn't have to put money back on one of my cards or give me money back. It was a nice feeling.
