We have a small pop-up we bought at the end of last summer. We have been using it this summer and have enjoyed it. On my last trip I got thinking about bringing it to Ft. Wildreness. I want to go back to Disny in Feb (I need the break from cold and snow) and was thinking it would be so much cheaper to camp than to get a room like we usually do.
I know Florida weather can be tricky the last week of February...what do you think? We have a small ceramic heater that we used a couple of times on our last trip for a chilly night and it really heated up the camper so I figured that would work if it got too cold there.
Has anyone ever capmed there that time of year? What were the rates like? Do they offer AAA and AP rates for that time of year? Rack rate is $50 a night (which is actually chaeper than the place we just camped at.)
We could certainly save alot on meals which would be a great help too!
So all you veteren Ft. Wilderness campers......fill me in!!! LOL

We generally camp in our pop up December/January. I would think unless there is some extreme weather a ceramic heater should get you by.

Just like the hotel rooms, discounts are limited to a certain nuber of sites per night, so call as soon as you have your dates.

Check out my FW page (link below) form more FW/Pop Up info.

We usually camp in a pop up in January or Feb. Last Feb the weather was perfect camping weather. We even went swimming several days. We also use a ceramic heater, it works great. We also take a small microwave for quick meals.
Ft Wilderness is one of our favorite places to camp. The best campground we've found, though its hard to beat the scenery of the west.
We get a AAA rate, we go earlier in the month when it is value season, usually the rate is $30.
Be careful, Ft Wilderness campground will spoil you.

PS I forgot to say one year in early Feb we hard a light frost on the truck windshield. It is usually around 70 for a high but later in Feb will probably be even better.

We camped in our pop up this past February around the middle of the month, and the weather was pretty cool the first couple of days, but then warmed up quite nicely as the week went on. When we rode our bikes or the electric cart on the first two nights we wore jackets and I even wrapped the little ones up in light blankets, but then we changed over to shorts for the rest of the week! We never lit the furnace, just used the ceramic heater at night for a little while and we were fine. I don't know about AP or AAA rates, but discounts are hard to come by after mid February because it switches from Value Season to Peak Season on Feb. 17. (Check out Tim5055's FW site for a rate chart and season chart). Hope this helps a little! :D
